How to ask a good question on the Reckon Community 🙋♂️
Hey everyone!
Creating a good post or asking a good question on the Reckon Community is important so that you get helpful, relevant and timely responses. Here are some tips!
Search for existing posts & answers 🔍
Before posting your question, use the search function on the Reckon Community to see if a similar question has already been asked and answered. It's possible that someone else has faced a similar issue, and you can find a solution straight away. For details on how to search the Reckon Community click HERE.
Be clear, concise and provide context 😕
Make sure your post is clear and to the point but also has enough context for others to understand your problem. Its really important to include relevant details such as your Reckon software version, error messages, and any troubleshooting steps you've already taken.
Avoid unnecessary details or background information that aren't relevant to the question or issue which may confuse or overwhelm fellow members.
The title of your post should give readers a good idea of what the question or issue is about so ensure you give your post a descriptive title.
Choose the correct category for the software you're using 🗃️
🚨 Its really important that you select the right category for the Reckon software you're using in your post. 🚨
Some of our members and partners specialise in particular Reckon software over others so when creating a post, please ensure that you select the correct product category. This ensures that your question or discussion is directed to the most knowledgeable and relevant audience and helps streamline responses.
For a guide on which category to select, check out this post - I need to create a post.. which category do I select?
(Shoutout to @Bruce for the feedback on this! 🙌)
A picture paints a thousand words 🖼️
Screenshots are extremely helpful in understanding the context or issue of your query. Please include a screenshot(s) of any error messages or other relevant screens that are related to your query. For instructions on how to add a screenshot to your post, click HERE.
ℹ️ Please note, some screens can hold sensitive or personal information. Its your responsibility to obscure or hide any sensitive information in a screenshot or image before posting.
Follow Community Guidelines ✅
Most online communities, including the Reckon Community, have specific guidelines or rules for posting. Familiarize yourself with these guidelines and follow them to ensure your content is in line with the agreed community's standards. Click HERE to review the Reckon Community Guidelines.
A couple of other things..
After posting your question, stay engaged with the community. We love having you here! Jump in on other posts that you think you can contribute to.
It may take a little bit of time for community members to see and respond. Be patient and check back regularly for updates. You'll get an email notification as soon as a reply is made on your post. To review your notification settings, check out Notification Preferences in your Reckon Community profile.
Lastly, warm fuzzies go a long way and expressing gratitude is appreciated by everyone, so don't forget to say 'thank you' when a fellow Community member responds to help you.
These are just a few tips which can help you increase the likelihood of receiving meaningful and relevant replies when asking questions on the Reckon Community.

Stay in the loop with email notifications from the Reckon Community! 📧
How to receive email notifications from Reckon Community categories you're interested in! 📧
Hi everyone!
Want to stay in the loop with conversations happening on the Community? In addition to the general notification settings in your Community profile you can also receive email notifications each time there is a new discussion, or even comment, posted in a particular Reckon software category that you might be interested in.
For example, if you want to be notified by either email when a new discussion is created about Reckon Accounts Hosted or the Reckon Payroll App etc all you need to do is go that particular category that interests you and click on the bell icon at the top of the page and select to follow that category then tick the option to be notified of new posts along with ticking the Email Notifications option.
You will then receive an email notification each time a new discussion is created in the chosen category.
Enabling email notifications on Reckon software categories that you're interested in is a great way to stay up to date, keep an eye on what's being discussed and even share your knowledge & ideas with your fellow Community members.
⚠ Just a quick note, ticking the 'Notify of new comments' option in conjunction with Email Notifications will enable email notifications each time a new discussion AND comment is created in the chosen category which may become overwhelming to both you and your inbox. I'd recommend sticking with just the 'New Posts' option.

How do I add an image or screenshot to my discussion?
Adding a screenshot or image is a great way to add visual context to your discussion.
It can also be extremely helpful to add when you've run into an issue that requires troubleshooting so that fellow Community members can see where things have gone astray, and in turn hopefully lead to a solution faster.
Adding a screenshot or image to your discussion is super easy and you have a couple of ways to do so. We'll start with the easiest way first.
1️⃣ Drag & drop
If you have an image file saved to your PC that you'd like to include in your post you can simply drag the file into the conversation field and the Community will process and add the image to your discussion.
2️⃣ Upload image
You can also use the 'Upload Image' button from the options at the bottom of the conversation field. This will open a window which will allow you to find and select an image file from where its saved on your PC.
🖱️Adjusting the size & position of your image
There are options to adjust the size and position of your image so that you can tailor the look & appearance of your discussion. To do so, click on the image itself once its uploaded, you will options to adjust the position to the Left, Centre or Right and for sizing, the Community can adjust it to Small, Medium or Large.
Please note: The results you receive using these options are dependent on the dimensions of the original image uploaded.

How do I search for existing posts related to a specific product? 🔍
How do I search the Reckon Community for existing posts related to specific products or categories?
Searching the Reckon Community is a great way to find existing posts or questions that have previously been created by fellow members. You may even find the answer to a question or topic that you're currently contending with that has already been answered or discussed! 😊
To start searching, enter some specific keywords relating to your query in the search bar then hit the Search button or simply press enter. A list of search results best matching your keywords will appear which you can browse and select from.
The best method though is to customise your search results for the Reckon product or category that is relevant to you by using the category filter.
Filter search results for your Reckon product
A really useful tip is to filter your search results by the product or category that is relevant to you/your query. You can do this by clicking the 'Discussions' option and then use the 'Category' list to select your Reckon product category. This will make your search results more relevant and specific to you by filtering existing posts for the relevant product only.
You can also user other filters such as date range, author, title and tags to drill down even further.
In a hurry? Use Smart Search!
As you start typing in keywords that are relevant to your query in the search bar, you'll be presented with suggestions that best match from all conversations and categories across the Community immediately in the list on-screen. Smart search will update the suggested list dynamically as you type.

Meet the Reckon team!
Hi everyone,
You might be familiar with their friendly voices over the phone, but I thought it would be nice to get to know a little more about the awesome folks in our various teams here at Reckon 😃
First up are the incredible folks in our technical support team!
You'll see members of the support team here on the Reckon Community as well and they're always happy to share their expertise and knowledge 😊
Alex
Reckon Community: @Alexander McKeown
Hello, I'm Alex!
I've been with Reckon for 5 years now, and am the senior-most member of the Reckon Technical Support team 🙂
My background is in video game design and virtual worlds, with a side degree in cybersecurity.
Reckon has been as close to home as my own front door - every face I see in the office is smiling, friendly, telling a joke, or celebrating our next achievement - there is a genuine sense of a community and innovation that arcs through the office like electricity on water. It's an invigorating experience to be working with an incredibly talented and passionate team, and it has been my honour to have trained all current technical support agents.
Outside of work, I play many games, and have a dozen hobbies - I am a huge Warhammer fan, I build Gundam models, I practice my singing skills, and write to my heart's content. In my free time, I tend to work on projects, or review new techniques for my craft, and always have my hands busy.
Whether you've had my assistance in the past, or have some troubles now, I am always happy to lend a hand, no matter the scenario 😊
Omar
Reckon Community: @Datarec_ReckonLtd
Hello everyone, my name is Omar and I’m a Data Recovery Engineer. 🖥️
I’ve been doing this job for a long time, since before the GFC, the GST, and even the KFC! 😅
What I love most about my work is collaborating with a team of people who are always eager to learn from each other and share their knowledge.
Some of the things that I’m passionate about are food, technology, and combat sports. I enjoy tasting new dishes, sometimes cooking them myself if they are not too complicated. I’m also interested in the latest gadgets and how they can enhance our lives rather than take away from them. Combat sports are another way for me to grow personally and challenge myself.
Fun fact: I once played a role in an Australian movie with some famous actors.. can you guess which movie?
Teddy
Reckon Community: @Teddy
Hi everyone! I'm Teddy Noyau, one of the senior technical support representatives here at Reckon.
I have been at Reckon for almost 2 years now (18 months to be precise) and so far it's been an amazing journey. My background is in IT and my previous work experiences come from supporting students, teachers, and school staff with all IT issues and queries .
My favourite thing about Reckon is hands down, the people! The people here at Reckon are is what makes this company such a great place to be 😊.
I'm passionate about information security, technology in general, and am always amazed how technology helps improve our way of life. Outside of work, I spend a lot of time working on automation projects for home, scripting tools, and pen testing my home network.
Reeta
Reckon Community: @Reeta
Hey everyone!
I've been proudly part of the Reckon family since January 2022 and my experience here has been truly awesome! 😊
My background is in customer service and I hold an educational foundation in computer engineering which I've had the opportunity to apply and refine during my tenure at Reckon.
What I love the most is the supportive atmosphere within the team, where we inspire and motivate each other, collectively tackling even the most challenging cases with our shared expertise and collaboration.
Outside of work, I have a huge passion for reading! 📖 I love to read a wide range of genres, from news to captivating novels. I believe reading has the power to transport you to different worlds, broaden your perspective, and it even allows me to experience life through the eyes of the characters in the books I read 😁.
I've just finished The 5 Elements of Effective Thinking. Hopefully there are some fellow book enthusiasts here on the Community that can give me some recommendations!
Karren
Reckon Community: @klaura
Hi, I'm Karren!
I'm one of your technical support team members and I've been with Reckon for 3 years now.
As a member of the Reckon team, I genuinely value the chance to interact with our partners, gain insight into their needs, struggles, and goals.. and even pick up knowledge from them myself. I've learned a huge amount from speaking with you all and I continue to do so which I love about my role.
I am a full-time Mum of two boys and 2 fur kids named Chico and Chichi.. Sometimes I even call my real kids these names 😆😅
I love being outdoors. I occasionally go for hiking and camping with family and friends. When I'm not working, I do sewing-related crafts. I find it to be quite therapeutic.
Nick
Reckon Community: @Nickiu
Hi, I’m Nick and I work as a Technical Support team member at Reckon. I joined the company less than a year ago and I have a background in cybersecurity and customer service.

They're also fun to work with and we often share jokes and stories 😁. I enjoy the challenges and variety of tasks that I encounter every day. I am proud to be part of a team that is passionate about making a difference in the world of accounting software.
One of my passions outside of work is playing sport ⚽. I love soccer and fencing, and I practice them regularly. Playing sport helps me relax, have fun, and meet new people who share my interests.

Luke
Reckon Community: @Luke
Meet Luke, the dedicated and passionate Head of Support at Reckon. With an impressive 8 year tenure, Luke's journey has seen him rise through the ranks, beginning as a first-level support representative and progressing through senior technical support and team leadership before taking the reins as Head of Support.
One of Luke's standout qualities is his deep appreciation for the unique culture at Reckon. For him, the company isn't just a workplace; it's a family 🤗. This familial atmosphere extends not only to colleagues but also to Reckon's valued customers and partners. Reckon Community - Site performance issues (30 October) - RESOLVED ✅
Hi everyone
I'm currently looking into some performance issues affecting the Reckon Community site. Early indication shows that some tasks are taking longer to load than normal or in some cases an error message appearing when trying to create a post, upload an image, leaving a reaction on a post/reply on the Community.
ℹ️ This does NOT affect any Reckon software products such as Reckon Payroll or Reckon Accounts Hosted.
Apologies for the trouble this is causing at the moment. I've engaged with our Community technology partner for further investigation/information and will keep you updated.

This is now resolved ✅

My Reckon Community username looks a little different.. why?
Reckon Community update - Usernames
Hi everyone
I just wanted to give you a heads up on a recent update to the Reckon Community site. Previously the Community allowed members to have the same username as another member. This worked ok for a period of time however as the Community has grown (we're over 30K members now! 😲) it has presented challenges in moderation such as when @ mentioning members, private messaging members and accessing or maintaining your profile to name a few.
A recent update on the platform now prevents duplicate usernames to be registered so each member must have their own unique user name. As part of this update, any members who previously had the same username as others have had their username automatically appended with a unique number at the end of their user name eg. Rav_12345678
This only affects a small number of Reckon Community members and does not affect any use of the site in any way. No other member data has been altered or changed.
My username has changed as part of this update, how can I change it to something else?
If you'd like to change your username to something else then I'm more than happy to help you with that.
Click on the Flag 🚩 button on a post or reply you've created and select the Report option then send through a note with the user name you'd like yours updated to.
Note: Your username must be unique and not currently in use by another member. If your initial choice is unavailable, you will need to select an alternative.
If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know.

Reckon Community: Receiving email notifications for categories I'm interested in
Email Notifications from the Reckon Community!
In addition to the general notification settings in your Community profile you can also receive email or pop-up notifications each time there is a new discussion, or even comment, posted in a particular Reckon software category that you might be interested in.
For example, if you want to be notified by either email or pop-up when a new discussion is created about Reckon Accounts Hosted or the Reckon Payroll App etc all you need to do is go that particular category that interests you and click on the bell icon at the top of the page then you can select the 'Discussions' notification option.
Discussions
If you select the 'Discussions' option you will receive a notification each time a new discussion is created in the chosen category.
Discussions and Comments
If you select the 'Discussions and Comments' notification option you will receive a notification each time a new discussion AND new comment is posted in the chosen category.
⚠ Just a word of warning, if you select the 'Discussions and Comments' option you'll receive notifications each time a new discussion AND comment is created in that category which may become overwhelming to both you and your inbox. I'd recommend sticking with the 'Discussions' option.
