All the features of Classes in Reckon One?
We're currently using Reckon Accounts Hosted but very interested in Reckon One. Apart from payroll, the core functionality we need is classes - or departments, branches, cost centres, profit centres.
There are a couple of references to using 'projects' in Reckon One, in lieu of classes. Can someone advise specifically will this allow us to achieve same functionality as Accounts Hosted for each of these:
- report profit and loss by class
- produce PL overview ie a column for each class, rows showing income/expenses
- search ("find") transactions using a class filter
- modify transaction reports to filter and/or sub-total by class
- payroll reports by class
We don't want to use add-ons or exports to achieve this... this is core functionality.
Related question: Accounts Hosted also 'features' a field on customer master files labelled 'customer type'. We currently use this as a mirror of classes. Thus we can produce Aged debtor balances report and a customer list, by class. Are there similar filters for aged balance reports and customer lists in R1? Eg filter by project?
Thanks for taking the time with this...

This is my understanding from having seen this question raised in the past. There may be other community members who have more recent/updated information & more knowledgeable on this topic.
At this point in time class tracking & payroll are not features available in Reckon One.
The next module scheduled for release is the time & expense module followed by the payroll module. Class tracking is a feature that will be added to the product at a later time.
The project feature in Reckon One is not a substitute feature to class tracking. The project feature in Reckon One doesn't meet all of the requirements mentioned in your post.
In regards to projects....
- report profit and loss by class [yes]
- produce PL overview ie a column for each class, rows showing income/expenses [no]
- search ("find") transactions using a class filter [no]
- modify transaction reports to filter and/or sub-total by class [no]
- payroll reports by class [no]

The release of the classes functionality has been slightly delayed, however it is most certainly still on the roadmap for inclusion in a future release.
I can't provide any timeframes at this stage but I'll keep you updated as soon as I receive any further information.
Thanks for your patience.
