how do i update the history record in raises and promotions

I'm trying to add a promotion and it won't allow me to enter a back date (earlier date) as its effective date conflicts with existing history record.  I cannot find how to edit the existing record as it suggests

    All good, just worked it out - highlight historical record you want to edit and go from there.
