Gross to inclUde allowances??

When entering a payrun does the gross include the allowances or not? I know we note it below but does that mean we keep ot separate? To me gross should be GROSS but am now unsure?

    The Gross figure is specifically for gross salary and wages, not for grand total of all types of payments. Allowances have their own slot for reporting because they are not included in gross salary/wages.
