Add an asset that was purchased in USD not the home currency

HI would appreciate guidance how to add an entry. I purchased an asset in USD using my USD company account, and want to add t to my asset account which only seems to recognize my home currency (NZD)

If I get it right in the USD account thevalue is wrong in the asset account. If I add the asset in base currency it is wrong in the USD account


could someone guide me please what step I am missing ( I have tried using the accounts payable USD acct, General journal etc but clearly not got it right yet)
