Price Increase for Reckon One

I was surprised to find a price increase across modules this month.
I started using Reckon One in June 2020. The modules cost $22/month. It’s now $32/month for the same modules.
That’s a 45% increase in 1.5 years, which I find pretty hefty.
I acknowledge there are upgrades, but the only additional functionality I use is the STP reporting.
Is anyone else surprised by this second price increase since June 2020?
Xero is certainly looking more attractive 😉

Hi Fiona,
While price rises are never fun and we aim to put them off as much as possible we've had to make some small changes to Reckon One's pricing from January as you've noted. With that said, I still believe Reckon One is an incredibly compelling solution and packs a lot of value for its price point with unlimited employee payroll, unlimited invoicing along with its ability to be customised with additional (or less) functionality as & when you need it etc.
There has also been a truckload of development work that has gone into the service both behind the scenes and also from a functionality point of view with a stack of performance and API connectivity enhancements, updated Contacts structure, a range of bugs squashed to name a few. There's also a lot more on the way as well this year which we're pretty excited about particularly when it comes to payroll, stay tuned for that.
You've mentioned Xero and obviously I have some bias in this but when it comes to that I'll link a comparison below -

Thanks Rav,
I’ve looked at that comparison and it’s good to review on price and functionality.
For my needs I’m looking at $32 for Reckon vs $27 for Xero. It’s not a lot per month I know, but another price increase would send me packing. A 45% increase in under 2 years is a lot.

I am also quite shocked at the ongoing price increases over the past four years. I joined Reckon in March 2019 at $13 per month, Feb 2020 it went to $17, Jan 2021 it went to $20, Jan 22 it went to $25 and Feb 2023 now over $30. Is this rate of increase expected to continue? At this point I would not recommend Reckon to another due to this instability in pricing. I have three accounts but have been told in the past that a package deal is not something Reckon offer.

I also should mention, I don't need the payroll function, and don't recall signing up for this when I first registered.

Hi @TinaB
Reckon One's modules can be added or removed at any time so if you currently have the payroll module in your subscription and you don't have use for it anymore you can remove it from your account by following the steps outlined in the guide below -

I know Tina, I’ve just realised the price went up again (I don’t receive the notification emails for some reason). It’s almost double the price per month since I started in 2020 - now $40 vs $22/month.
I just spoke to a customer service rep who advised there will probably be a price increase every January.0 -
Hi Rav, Thank you for your prompt reply. I checked and payroll is not activated in any of my three accounts. The only modules I have are basics core, invoicing and bank connection - so the price rises I have experienced are for those three modules. So I guess my question remains the same…is this rate of price increase going to continue?

Hi FionaBrand, A price increase every January seems reasonable, most businesses have to do similar. It's just the size of the increases, so far above inflation without any obvious improvement in services that makes me not wish to recommend this to others.

@TinaB unfortunately that's not something I have knowedge of so can't confirm that. With that said though, I understand that price increases can be challenging particularly in the current climate we're in right now, however I know that we're fully committed to ensuring Reckon One is a feature rich and robust service offered at an affordable price point that delivers value to your business.
Also, there is a very high level of work going into Reckon One at the moment, including the recent delivery of the Reckon Invoices App that you can use as a companion to your Reckon One book, performance enhancements, bug fixes, stability improvements and of course the huge one that is happening as we speak which is updates for Single Touch Payroll Phase 2 requirements which you'll hear about very soon.
