Unable to Upgrade to V34
Hi
I am trying to upgrade to large files to V34 and the system will not complete a backup.
I have also copied the files into another folder as a backup.
Does anyone have a suggestion on how to upgrade without doing a backup of the RA 2024 beforehand?

Hi @Big Hat
If you click Esc on your keyboard, when the backup commences, this should override that required backup process 😊

Hi @Big Hat
If the file is not able to go through a backup process:
- How big is the file?
- Are you able to manually put it through a file integrity check? (Verify / Rebuild / Verify Data)
If you are skipping the backup, ensure that you at least have a COPY of the QBW file in the event that the upgrade fails and it results in a partially upgrade and unopenable file.

Hi
Worked on this issue on and off for 9 hours yesterday.
It appears that the file requires more Server resources.
I resolved the issue by uploading the file to my RAH account and was able to back up and perform the upgrade.
Once done, I downloaded the file and copied it to the client's Server.
Additionally, pressing ESC during the pre-update backup only cancels. Not like a normal backup, such as a Rebuild backup, which you can use ESC
Thank you all for your help.

Hi @Big Hat
Thank you for sharing your experience.
A large file can take a long time to backup or fail a backup especially if:
a) There had been no regular backups created in the past, which results in a companion file "*.TLG" also becoming quite large
How to improve performance by resetting the TLG file - Reckon Help and Support Centre
- Moving the QBW file from the clients server to your Hosted account likely resulted in you not bringing along the companion TLG file and hence on your Hosted account, the only thing being backed up is the QBW file and not the QBW+TLG file.
b) The file has existing errors that are being detected by the built-in Verify Data that occurs when a backup is being performed (by default the recommended 'complete verification' option is enabled)
- If a user is willing to risk it, they can choose to make the backup in the original version software and set the backup option to no verification
- then restore the resulting backup in the newer version software.
