Error code (0xc0150004) when new install of Reckon Personal Plus V31 fails to launch
After installing Reckon Personal Plus V31on my new Windows 11 desktop PC I am unable to open the program. It loads successfully and a Reckon dialogue box says it has been installed successfully. However when I try to open the program a dialogue box comes up with "qw.exe-Application Error. The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0150004). Click OK to close the application."
I have uninstalled the program and re-installed it many times all with the same result. I have tried clicking on the file qw.exe in the C: drive in the Reckon's program folder with the same result.
Have tried the following:
Temporarily disable antivirus software- Third-party antivirus tools may block legitimate installers.
- Disable your antivirus and try launching or installing the software again.
- If you're using Windows Defender:
- Go to
Windows Security > Virus & Threat Protection > Manage Settings. - Turn off
Real-time Protectiontemporarily.
- Go to
Check the integrity of the installer or executable- The EXE file might be corrupted.
- Try running the installer on another PC to verify.
- Re-download the installer from the official source if needed.
Run System File Checker (SFC) and DISM- These tools repair missing or corrupted system files:
- Open Command Prompt as Administrator.
- Run:
sfc /scannow - DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealthDISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- Restart your PC after completion.

Perform a Clean Boot- This helps identify if background apps are interfering:
- Press
Win + R, typemsconfig, and hit Enter. - Under
Services, checkHide all Microsoft servicesand clickDisable all. - Go to

Had lengthy remote support session with Microsoft who also tried the above and more. They ruled out issues with Windows files and Windows system installation. They agree this is a problem with the Reckon software
