Error+6951 Can't backup 2013 personal plus

I'm using Windows 8.1 with Personal plus 2013 (just installed). I have used personal plus for 20 years, and it just seems to be getting more dire. The current problem is that I cannot back up. When I try, I get error 6951 stating that reckon has encountered a problem and needs to close.

Any ideas guys???

Cheers

Hey Michael, can you please post up a screenshot of the error. To me it sounds like there is a corruption somewhere. In saying that, PP2013, is not fully compatible with win8.1 as it was released a few years before the operating system and there is no assurances it would function as it should. One thing you can try is to install 2013 in XP Mode.

    Thanks Mirko,

Hope this helps. I also sent the error report through to Reckon yesterday.

    Cheers

    Hi again All,

Another issue is that when I first click on the desktop icon, instead of taking me into PP, It gives me the "Welcome to Reckon accounts" screen, and the choice between "I am a new user" and "I am already a reckon user", then asks me where to access my data from. That is, it's as if it is first installing the program each time I start it up. Any thoughts?

    Thanks in advance

    Michael

Hey Michael, try to run a verify. It sounds like there is an error with your file. The steps to check and fix file corruptions can be found here >> http://kb.reckon.com.au/issue_view.asp?ID=3162

    Hi Mirko,

No luck there either. I both validated, and super validated the file, without issue. Still won't allow me to back up.

    Cheers

Michael there could be two issues

    1. 64 bit or
    2. Can you go to the desktop with the program closed and change the compatibility settings

There could be further problems but lets start with compatibility.  I'm suspecting you may have to end up upgrading to 2015 due to Windows 8.1 64 bit.  Please email if you need further help with this robyn@robynkelly.com.au
