Share Price Downloads - Feedback

RavRav Administrator Posts: 9,886 Administrator
Hi everyone,

Our Development team are looking at making improvements in the share price download area within the Reckon Accounts Personal Range, including reliability and the overall experience.

We'd like to reach out to users who utilise this functionality and gather your feedback to the following questions;
  1. How many shares do you download? (the One Step Update Summary displays this information)
  2. How often do you download? Daily, weekly etc
  3. What time of the day do you usually download share price information?
Thanks everyone!

    Hi Rav,

    1. 10

    2. Daily

    3. I have started only doing so after 2030 hrs because I found out that you do not update them on your server any earlier. I used to update every time I logged in to Reckon not any more. I would like updates continuous during the day.

    1) I download about 70 ASX shares and 2 US historical indices

    2) I try to do this once a week, but often miss a week or two. ( I have my own scan program to replace what is missing via a .csv import.)

    3) I usually do this on a weekend.

If you are contemplating an update, the main one would be to look for the last date that was downloaded and update since then, or have this as a modifiable date range selection if re-doing after a failed download. I can't believe you can't store more than 7 days. I have all prices since 2007 for ASX 3 character codes. It is 136 mb of data.

The main problem with downloading large date ranges is keeping track of the code changes, eg AGL.

Why cant you provide codes XAO etc, as most of us also use these indices, via .csv imports.

What I would like is an option box in Security detail view so that it only lists the active shares in the top left drop down list. Active shares are those that have a price record in the date range that has been selected, say 3-months, year or year to date. (I would also like 6-months)  I have lots of security codes (about 200 stored in .qph file, of which about 120 are listed in the drop down box and only 68 are active)

There is a problem with recording and reporting volumes, as the charting fails at volume above 2 billion. Try to plot 5 years of US historical indices. It would be good to import and plot XAO volumes also.

For other ideas, I have sent a number of emails and also earlier posts.

    3. At market close as I have my own program to construct the necessary files. However if it is after 8pm then I download from Reckon. Clearly I would do so earlier if it was available. Why can't you have the 20min delayed prices available all day as per the ASX website?
Yes to managed funds being available as well. Again i have created my own script to do this automatically.
