Error importing .iif item list - how do I fix it?

Hi there,

I'm trying to import my item list from one company file to another and I keep getting the error - 

"The Taxable setting in tax code S has been changed. This cannot be imported"

Can someone please instruct me as to how I can fix this and import the item list? 

I'm using Reckon Accounts Premier 2016

    Yes. You have a tax code S in one file and it isnt in the othet. Youre welcome

    I don't understand. I haven't changed anything to do with the tax codes.

    I dont think I said you did. Have a look at the tax code list and the tax item list. Export those as well

    I have the tax code list and have imported that ok. Don't have a tax item list though?
    I've tried to import the item list again and get the same error.

    Have imported both and still get the same error.

    Hi John, I did look at that yesterday, but couldn't work out how to fill the column with Ys and there were too many to do individually.
    Do you think that might be the solution?

    Hi, I used to have the same type of error when importing iif files from the old file to the new. I found if I didn't select to export/import the tax files then it would always work.

    I'm only importing the item list, on its own.

    Ok, maybe check your items list and see if there are any active or inactive items with incorrect tax codes on them. If you find any, then change the tax code and try again.
    It might be easier to export and open in Excel to do a search for anything odd.

    Hi Amelia,

    Open the IIF with Excel and use Copy/Paste to copy to all relevant items.  Save the file, but choose to keep it in the original (text) format.  Then in Windows Explorer change the file extension from .txt to .iif.

    Changing all the Ns to Ys worked. Thanks John!
