Do you have to use a Super Clearing House or is it possible to send a file to each Super Fund?

Hi Mark.  Payments for Super must now comply with SuperStream requirements.  This means that the return must be sent electronically and in a standard format.  The ATO has its own Clearing House - Small Business Super Clearing House, which can generally be used by small employers with up to 20 staff.  There are many other Clearing Houses around, many run by Super Funds themselves, as a central point for all of the payments that an employer has to make.

Thanks John, on the ATO website "Do I have to use a clearing house?" they so No. a CH is just one of the options available to meet your SuperStream obligations.
Other options include your default fund, payroll software, or .........
It goes on to say the payroll system that meets the SuperStream standard and as we are already paying for one ( i thought ) then why should we have to rely on a 3rd party?

    Hello Mark,

Here is the ATO Employer Checklist for SuperStream.

Reckon Accounts produces a SuperStream export file (the generic SAFF format) that can be given to any SuperStream processor.

Reckon One does provide integration with OzEdi to process SuperStream if you wish to use it (the OzEdi service is an additional cost).  Otherwise you can use the SAFF export file and send to any SuperStream processor.

    Hope this helps.

    regards,
    John

    Thanks John,

So to clarify every employer has to go through a clearing house be it the ATO or some other organisation.

Do you know if Reckon will be producing an export file for STP to be then sent to a processor as well, ie, similar to Superstream?

    regards
    Mark

    Hi Mark,

To your first question, you'll have to speak to your Accountant or the ATO for a definitive answer.

Reckon Accounts will become STP Compliant with the Tax Table Update 2018 that will be released later in June.  Submission to the ATO will be via GovConnect (ie, via SBR).  See what you can do now at: Preparing Reckon Accounts Business and Hosted for Single Touch Payroll (STP)

    regards,
    John
