I am using ReckonAccounts Personal Plus 2017 Release R 1 (Australian Edition). I have been using this with my HSBC accounts for a while but now when I attempt to upload a HSBC QIF file "This file is not in the correct format" is shown. Several transactions are blank.

Double check with the bank site that they haven't changed the format to download transactions. Make sure the date format is correct. Make sure it is Quicken QIF format and not another option. Just in case you accidentally chose a different option to normal.
