Issues exporting data back to client from Accountant Copy

I am an accountant that makes adjustments to the client copy at end of each financial year. I have on going issues where theres too much ammendments/changes made and Reckon cant cope and rejects the data at time of export. This is so frustrating as the changes needs to be done manually again at the clients end, meaning I personally have to be present at my clients office to input my year end adjustments....defeats the purpose of purchasing an accountant version when ability is limited. Yes, I have read and understood the "what not" and "what can" be done in the accountant version but nothing about the amount of changes Reckon can take. One suggested I export the changes in portions. Firtsly, how do I know i have reached the maximum amount of changes in Reckon in order to export sucessfully. Secondly, the exportation and importation process is not a quick process, it takes up quite some valuable amount of time. Can anyone assist please.

Get the client to do what?? Easey peasey!!....they have no idea how to post a journal let alone know what a debit and credit is!! Is there anyone else out there with a more genuine answer.

Hosted is the obvious solution. You could get access to the live file. I would like to know why the journal entries are so large? You know you can create GL entries in excel for import to Reckon. I dont know anyone who uses the ADT. I've only been using Reckon for 20 years.

The obvious year end journals, accruals, depreciation to name a couple. What is ADT??? Please be clear my purpose coming onto the community forum is to ask for help, im not here to undermind your knowledge about Reckon most certainly not to question how long you've used this software. I'm simply here to ask for assistant and thats all......thank you for your time anyway.

    Hi Ine,
How large is the file you're working with? Does the client regularly perform maintenance on this file?

    Hi Rav

Thank you for taking the time to look at my query, very much appreciated.

The largest file I have is 1079MB. I'm not sure if the client performs regular maintenance on their file however if you suggest they should, I'm more than happy to inform them accordingly.

That file size is certainly on the larger side which could be contributing to dips in performance. In terms of maintenance, yes I'd highly recommend conducting steps such as Verify & Rebuilds, backups, re-sorting lists and creating a portable company file on a regular basis to get the best from the file.

I'd strongly recommend reviewing this article as it contains steps that will help the file and hopefully also put an end to the issues you're experiencing -
