Hi Everyone. we have an existing 2016 Acoounts Plus program and have just installed a new 2019 version. Can anyone please tell me how to transfer across my company file information from the 2016 version to the new 2019 version. i want to keep the 2016 version there at the moment in case any goes wrong in getting the iinfo loaded on the new one. can anyone please help me as very confusing.

Open the old file in the new version. It will upgrade to 2019. When you upgrade change the name of the file.0

Many ways, all correct, but I would do a backup of the 2016 file, restore it into 2019 version and change the name of the new file when restoring and possibly put in a different folder so they stay separate0

Yeah except it should be in the default directory0

Why? I have my files in different directories unless it’s Hosted, is this one a desktop or online version?0

Why do you have your files in different directories?0

I have a lot of clients files that they send me to check things out or answer questions, so instead of getting them mixed up with the files I keep permanently and use all the time I separate them. Also many of them are using different versions so I need to keep the files that only open in a particular version in that directory so I remember what version to open them in.0

And how's that working out for you? I've only been using Reckon for 20 years but I've found in order to get the most productivity out of the software is to work within it's limitations. Of course you can have files stored elsewhere but the software and the dbsm won't work the same way as the default installation. And don't get me started on the office integration. Years ago we had an accountants version which would open the file in the correct version provided it was installed.0

It works ok, often I’m only looking at a file briefly to explain how to format an invoice or something simple. I’ve never had a problem. I too have been using QB for over 20 years and was an accredited trainer for many years, now at 70 trying to retire but my clients won’t let me. Still using V7 for a couple of clients, up to Enterprise 2019 and Hosted. Reckon One has been a whole new thing, having to setup many files for those people using old versions. I will be glad when mid August comes!0
