Changing the PDF default file name when emailing invoices (Reckon Desktop 2021)

Hi there. I would like to change the default PDF file name that Reckon Desktop generates when emailing an invoice.

Can someone please tell me where in reckon I would be able to do this? I see this topic has come up before so I apologize if this is a repeat, but I cannot find an answer to this question.

I am surprised it's not just an option in the company preferences tab under - preferences / send forms, as other aspects of the email setup are there.

Thanks in advance.

Kind regards,

Stewart

I don’t believe it’s possible as it is system-generated but happy to stand corrected ?

Hi Shaz. Thanks for your input. I would have thought this would be something they would allow you to do as standard. I have just come from quickbooks 2010 to Reckon Desktop 2021 (quite a jump), and I was expecting a whole lot of changes and improvements. Especially on the GUI and general customization side.

You can choose to print the invoice to a pdf instead of emailing it directly, that way you choose the name and then email

    Hi Kris,

Thanks for the input. I have been doing that, but it wastes a lot time, unnecessarily.

The problem is, the whole point of using an expensive piece of accounting software (in my mind), is that it does that sort of monotonous and easily automated task for you, to save you time.

I can see your point @Stewart as I have my own document-naming format too so I also like to change the file name. But ..... on the flip side, a lot of people don’t want to change the name so are happy for it to use a standard default automatically.

I agree with Kris as I also save to PDF & email as an attachment separately but I guess it depends how many invoices you’re sending as to when this becomes too cumbersome 😬

In terms of the price, for what it does RA is actually very good value - Industry-specific software can cost 5-100K & they are generally very lacking in accounting features as that’s not their primary purpose.

RA has such a lot of features that many aren’t even aware of so if you feel you’re paying more than the value you’re getting out of it, I’d highly recommend getting some 1-on-1 customisation assistance from a Reckon Accredited partner who can ensure you’re getting the best bang for your buck! ☺️
