With the new forum, is it possible to edit posts?

On re-reading a couple of my posts, I haven't been as clear as would have liked and can't fine a way to edit.

This seems unusual for these types of boards.

I believe only up to 6 minutes after you post. But I could be wrong, it’s just an observation

    Hi @Bruce

@Kris_Williams is on the money here. At the moment, the platform is set to allow the author of a discussion to edit within 5 minutes of the post going up.

Its the default setting which I haven't changed but if folks are finding that its too short of a timeframe then I'm more than happy to extend it.

@Rav Can it not be made editable without a timeframe???? Sometimes I might realise a typo etc later 😫😬

@Acctd4 Unfortunately not Shaz 😕, but I've extended the time period to one hour now.

Unfortunately I am still not getting the delete choice when I click on the cog of an existing post, only an edit

you could try editing and leaving just a space or a stop. Doesn’t remove the fact that you posted, but the offending comment is removed

Yes I have done that, only need to delete if someone else has answered the question and I feel that my answer could be misleading

Select the Edit Cog (within the 1 hour) on the right and leave the page without posting. The post should appear in the My Drafts category selectable from the right pane. Select the X or right of message window and that will delete the post not needed.

Ok thanks I’ll give that a go

    Sorry guys!

I'll need to re-check the permission levels that I've got setup.

To be honest, I thought the delete option was available but as Kris has pointed out its obviously not. If its ok with everyone here, I'll check out the setup after EOFY traffic dies down a bit as it'll need some tweaking & testing.

@Kris_Williams if there's a specific comment of yours that you'd like deleted shoot me the link to it and I'll do it for you in the interim. To get the link for a comment as opposed to the whole discussion itself, click on the date on the specific comment which will load the URL for just that comment.

Hi guys, just wanted to loop back to this one.

I was doing some testing yesterday to look into the ability to delete your own discussions/comments but unfortunately there isn't an option for me to switch that on en masse. I had a chat with our platform provider as well and they've confirmed that the ability to delete content is only available to Admin/Mods at this stage.

As a workaround though I've made a couple of changes -

    • Extended the period to edit to 4 hours
    • Added a 'This is my own discussion/comment which I want to delete' option to the 'Report' post function which you can select and send through. This will come to me directly and it will let me take a look and delete the discussion/comment. I'll only delete the discussion or comment if its your own.

Hopefully that helps a bit but keen to hear any feedback.
