Payroll Hosted regarding new Regulations

Hi Rav

I haven't received anything as to what Reckon will be doing with new Tax Laws and Super.

As from 1st of July Super goes up to 10.5% and the $450 threshold is abolished. Also a new rule that anybody under 18 who works more then 30 hours will get Super. Will the software work this out for us automatically.

Is Reckon going to implement all these changes to the Hosted Payroll by 1st of July?

Regards

Danny

    Hi Danny

The upcoming release of Reckon Accounts Hosted will address the changes to super % and also the removal of the current minimum threshold.

The guys are in the final stages of testing on this at the moment and following that we'll be releasing our usual documentation/guides which will outline the changes in the software in more detail.

    Stay tuned.

    Hi Rav

Thanks for the update Rav. The Super % and $450 threshold is easy the 30hours below 18 is my concern, but that's why you employ the smart people.

The new update has been released and as I thought Reckon is not giving us a proper functioning Payroll.

I have 65 below 18 casuals, some of which work more then 30 hours a week, and it's not the same people every week.

You can't even print a simple hours worked report, unless I'm not looking in the right place. It should be simple open a report with employees name and hours worked for that week, I can't find it.

Come on Reckon surely it wouldn't take much to put this 30 hour super calculation into payroll, date of birth is there (their age) and hours worked is somewhere in there.

Your right Kris W.... Reckon will do all the have to, which is the bare minimum to comply and not what is required by it's members to make our lives easier.

    Regards

    Danny

    Hi Danny

Unfortunately - unlike the Super rate increase which was passed years ago to apply on a staggered basis - I think this particular legislative Super change for under 18s was introduced more suddenly without much liaison with the payroll software providers. I'm sure if enough people want its automation & Reckon are able to do so (RA/RAH base coding was acquired from Intuit's prior desktop "QuickBooks" & there are some aspects that are hard-wired into the coding which can't be edited) they will certainly consider automating it if they can! Add this (or a 'vote' if someone's beaten you to it) to the Reckon Ideas list here: https://ideas.reckon.com/ideas

In the meantime, for a specific pay run, Modify ... a Payroll Summary report to Display columns by Employee & with the Hours checkbox ticked. I Memorise this report & run it after each pay run, attaching it to the top of my paperwork for filing as it's also a useful one to use for entering the employee's net amounts into my online banking 😊

To see a summary list for employees overall - provided you have entered the employee's weekly hours in their record - generate an Employee Contact List report & Modify ... it to include the DOB & Weekly Hours columns. You can also remove any unneeded columns to make it narrower/more relevant.

    Hope that helps!

We have some documentation around ways to handle super for employees under 18 post-1 July but with half the world's internet going down earlier this afternoon due to the Cloudflare issue I wasn't able to publish it. I'll have it up & available tomorrow morning.

    Thanks Shaz for the response

I have 19 different payroll rates and I do the payroll every fortnight thru the Open Paycheque Details, because all my workers are casuals. The Payroll Summary report doesn't give me the Total hours worked, it just lists the hours for every different rate, so I would have to manually add the hours for each person.

Somehow I have to break up the fortnightly into weekly hours. the government doesn't give a stuff about employers and the hardship they create when some guru justifies his position with some new idea.

The employee Contact List report when I include the weekly hours, it shows 1 hour for every person, so that won't work.

    Any other ideas appreciated.

    Regards

@loypur The beauty of RA/RAH - & what sets it apart from any other payroll or accounting software - is the ability to search & report ... on ANYTHING!

Here's a report I've created (in the Sample file) which you might find useful - A great new enhancement Reckon added last year was for the Qty column to calculate & display an overall "TOTAL":

    To create this report:

    • Go to Find & click on the Advanced tab (Located on the Home screen & in the Edit dropdown menu) TIP: Add this as a 1-click Icon in your Icon Bar for fast access!
    • Click on Account in the Filters list, select Multiple accounts ... in the dropdown list & tick your relevant Payroll (Expense or COGS-type) accounts to include - by default this is usually "Gross Wages & Salaries" but you may have it setup differently. Click OK to retain these.
    • Click on the Date Filter & enter/select your required (Paycheque) date(s) or date range (eg Last Week)
    • Optional - Click on the Name Filter & select your Casual employees
    • Next, click on the Transaction Type filter & select Paycheque from the dropdown list
    • Click on the Find button on the right hand side to display the applicable transaction detail
    • Click on the Report button then on the Modify ... button at the top
    • On the first (Display) tab, untick any columns you don't want/need & tick additional columns to add in - In the above screenshot, I selected Description, Qty & Paid Amount
    • You can also choose to Total by & Sort by many specific options too
    • On the Header/Footer tab, you can name this report by overtyping into the Report Title box
    • Once you have the report modified to your requirements, Memorise it so you can generate it already pre-configured each time.

TIP: You can add this report (or any other window or report) to your icon bar for 1-click access by clicking on View along the top toolbar, then on Add "...." to Icon Bar in the dropdown menu - Remember to keep the titles short to maximise your space!:

The Weekly Hours column previously suggested on the Employee Contact List pulls through whatever's been manually entered in the employee's record here:

If they all show "1", it means that's what you've entered - If you enter their usual/average hours instead, it will display accordingly. However, note this is a MANUAL data field only - it is not affected by any pay information, only purely what is manually entered there.

Another option is to use Custom Fields to add a default U18 identifier tag to employee records (Note whilst the field/box will automatically display in ALL Employee records, you would obviously need to enter the "Y" in manually):

You can then select this as a "Column" to display on your modified Employee Contact List report (or any other record-based report):
