With V31 Home & Business in Windows 11 unable to print to PDF in landscape orientation
I have just bought V31 Home & Business and loaded it onto a HP Pavilion running Windows 11.
On a different computer running Windows 10 I was running 2012 Home & Business.
My data file transferred via a USB stick to V31 to my Windows 11 computer.
When I go to print Transaction Reports in Landscape orientation they show correctly in Print Preview, but when printed to file as pdf they show in Portrait orientation when opened.
The printer selected for the print job is: Microsoft Print to PDF on PORTPROMPT.
The Transaction Reports files need to be in pdf format for emailing to the Auditor as part of a SMSF Audit.
The reports are much easier to read in landscape.
I had the same problem with my 2012 version that is why I bought the newer V31.
Can this problem of not being able to print to PDF in landscape be overcome.
Any help would be appreciated greatly.
Yours faithfully,
Phil Rose

Dear @philiprose ,
Can you confirm the name of your H&B file in full, with extension (eg. MyFile.qdf)?
Beyond that, where is your H&B file currently stored? Is it in C:\Users\<your username>\Documents\Quicken\? Or is it still on the USB?
Kind regards,

Hi Alexis,
The file name is:
C:\Users\phili\oneDrive\Documents\Quicken\LPSF2024_20250126.QDF,
then there is in that Quicken (sub)folder:
LPSF2024_20250126.QEL
LPSF2024_20250126.QIN
LPSF2024_20250126.QPH
Data file is stored and accessed from C drive as above.
Extra backups are done to 3 USB sticks on the grandfather, father, son routine.
Hope the above helps.
Yours faithfully,
Phil Rose

Dear @philiprose ,
You will need to do the following:
- You will need to rename the file something smaller (below 8 characters):
- Copy the file.
- Paste the copy of the file to the default location (C:\Users\phili\Documents\Quicken\).
- Rename this file "LPSF.QDF"
- Open this new file in Reckon Home and Business.
- If the file has moved back to OneDrive\Documents after step 1, then you will need to contact your IT Personnel and have them disable OneDrive copying the folder.
This should resolve your Home and Business issues.

Hi Alexis,
I achieved all the changes you suggested, but the problem still remains.
I also did my normal backup to OneDrive and the LPSF file did not backup there, due to the new sub-folder location, or move back into OneDrive\Documents.
Also I printed out a Transaction Report using Laser Brother HL-L2305W as the printer, and it correctly allowed the Report to be both Print Previewed and hard copy Printed in Landscape orientation.
That does not solve the problem, as when you are offered both Print Preview and Printing to PDF you should be able to achieve it in this age of trying to work electronically rather than using up unnecessary paper.
Your further advice as to a fix would be appreciated.
Kind regards,
Phil Rose

Dear @philiprose ,
I'm a little unclear as of your response - the file's location that it was being opened from was:
C:\Users\phili\OneDrive\Documents\Quicken\LPSF.QDF
Or:
C:\Users\phili\Documents\Quicken\LPSF.QDF
The reason I ask is that Reckon Home & Business cannot operate files normally if the file is not in the default location for Reckon Home & Business, being C:\Users\phili\Documents\Quicken\LPSF.QDF, and this can affect everything from printing to report generation - ensuring it is in the default location, and opening the correct file in the correct location should resolve your printing issues.
No new subfolders needed ot be created under Documents; the Quicken folder in Documents is the default Home & Business folder. OneDrive should also be checked as any modifications can be copied across or Home & Business was still opening the file that's in OneDrive.

Hi Alexis, The file is no longer in any OneDrive folder or sub-folder and shows as such with a tick next to it under the File menu.

Dear @philiprose ,
And the file's name is less than 8 characters long?
Checking as, again, Reckon Home & Business can be a touch temperamental with modifications or differences in the file itself.
Do you have any other edition of Home & Business installed? Older versions? The Account Switcher?
