Can't Open Reckon Personal Plus V31on a new computer

After installing Reckon Personal Plus V31on my new Windows 11 desktop PC I am unable to open the program. It loads successfully and a Reckon dialogue box says it has been installed successfully. However when I try to open the program a dialogue box comes up with "qw.exe-Application Error. The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0150004). Click OK to close the application."

I have uninstalled the program and re-installed it many times all with the same result. I have tried clicking on the file qw.exe in the C: drive in the Reckon's program folder with the same result.

Does anyone know what the code (0xc0150004) means or has experienced the same problem?

    Thanks for your suggestions John. I have tried just about everything. I have talked to Reckon who say it's a Windows problem. I have talked to Microsoft who took over my PC and did extensive checks on my Windows 11 installation files and settings (including most of those you suggested) and nothing was found so they are saying it's a Reckon problem!

    I'm now awaiting a response from Reckon after sending them transcript of the sessions online with Microsoft showing all steps taken to fix this problem.

    So no progress yet.

    What is the make and model of the new computer that you are installing the software on?

    Is that laptop running a Snapdragon X series processor, an Intel or an AMD CPU?

    Note: There are other posts on the community which has mentioned the same error message.

    It is good to search for any existing posts as they may sometimes already have the answer or workaround to the problem.

    However, for this issue, the previous posts do not have a confirmed solution or workaround.

    Hi,

    After trying everything everybody has suggested I failed to get Reckon Personal Plus V31 to open. it installs correctly but will not open.

    My solution has been to resurrect my late wife's PC (Windows 10, MS Office 2010) and network it to my PC. I then loaded the Reckon program onto the Windows 10 PC where it installed perfectly and opened immediately first time.

    It's a workable although a slightly inconvenient solution and all my financial history has carried over. I just have two PCs in my study with one being the financial one and the other covering all other requirements.

    Thanks to John_8305976, Datarec and others for the advice they offered and I'm sorry that I never discovered what the actual cause was which if I had, might have helped others in the future.

    Many thanks for the update on your problem, albeit without the solution you were looking for. How frustrating for you!

    For what it is worth, I recently upgraded from my old HP Desktop PC with Windows 10 to a new Mini Tower, Antec CX200M RGB Elite, with AMD Ryzen 5 5600GT CPU, 16GB RAM, 1TB storage and Windows 11 Home (64-bit). I reinstalled my RPP V31 software to the new PC and have not had any issues. 🀞

    One alternative to having two physical computers would be 'virtualise' the older Windows 10 PC and then to run that virtualised computer on the newer computer using VirtualBox or VMware or Hyper-V.

    There are many paths to this for those that are willing to experiment.

    You can search the web for information with a search for something like:

    • "How to Convert a Physical Windows PC to a VirtualBox Virtual Machine"
    • "Converting physical machines to virtual machines using VMware Workstation for Windows"
    • "A Step-by-Step Guide on How to Convert a Physical Machine to Hyper-V VM"

    However, that may be more convoluted than what you'd want to spend the time on setting up.
