$55.00 Account Discrepancy

Hello all, hope you're all well.

I am using Quick Books 2011 edition and I am trying to reconcile the bank account.

I have gone back to March to try and fix this error, but I am unable to.

I am out $55.00 (safe custody fee from NAB) and that is what my Beginning Balance on QB's is out by. I have tried so many things to try and get this figure less $55.00, but it is not working. I have tried a journal entry and cheque entry, this is even showing up on my discrepancy report as the problem (because it has been deleted). What should I do?

    Hi Kate,

    You will need to re-enter the transaction and reinstate its reconciled status.

    After re-entering the transaction, complete a bank reconciliation using the same date and closing balance as for the last statement reconciled which you mention is March.  Tick the re-entered $55.00 transaction which should give you a zero difference.

    When you proceed to reconcile the April statement your opening balance should now be correct.

    Thank-you for the reply Suzanne :)

    I have re-entered and deleted the transaction so many times - it still wont work.

    The actual safe custody fee that is the discrepancy is actually from May.

    Does this change anything?

    Is your opening balance when attempting the April reconciliation is out by $55.00?
