adding bank feed

I got a replacement AMEX card so my credit card number changed. When I put my new card number into Reckon, I didn't have the ability to download transactions so I went back to using the old (incorrect) credit card number and that worked.

Today, I couldn't download any transactions from AMEX so went into BANKDATA and my AMEX feed had gone. Ideally I would have liked the option to have updated the credit card number rather than enter in a new card.

When entering a new bankfeed, I encountered problems. I've chosen AUSTRALIA > CREDIT CARD and then I only have a couple of options (as shown below) and I get an error message no matter what I select.

Question 1) what is the process for updating a new credit card number in Reckon BANKDATA

Question 2) given that I need to add a new feed (as my old AMEX feed is no longer there), what's the process as I can't get this to work

Thanks for asking Jay,

Apart from one series of card from the ANZ, credit cards can only be accessed via a Yodlee Connection.

When you change the credit card number you need to create a new Yodlee Connection.  This new connection will give you transactions back to the start of this account or up to 3 months, whichever is the longer.  This connection will give you a new YodleeID.

You will need to update the Online Bank Details tab of your credit card ledger account for the new YodleeID and card number.  Also, with American Express Cards, the way the credit card number is used may have changed.  In earlier connections you needed to list just the last 5 digits; recent connections are coming in with a standard masking:  xxxx-xxxxxxx-12345.  Please see here for complete details.

Full guide to configuring your company file for bankdata is available here.

Look forward to you accessing your transactions soon.

regards
John

Thanks. I'd assumed as much. However, when I went in to add a new connection last week, the list of options wasn't available (see my screen shot from before). Whatever glitch was there has now been handled and I've since gone and added in my new card. Many thanks for the detailed clarification.

Well, it still seems I have a problem... The OLD# works fine. I've now added a NEW# to the bank data feed so I've now got to YODLEE IDs - one for the OLD# and one for the NEW#. When I put the NEW# in Reckon, it says I don't have permission. When I put in the OLD# it still downloads transactions. [AMEX did say they'd leave the old card active for up to three months]. I thought to rename my account from AMEX to AMEX OLD and created a new account called AMEX NEW - though it automatically populates with the OLD YODLEE number. Anyway, I'm just going to keep using the OLD# for the time being as that works and problem solve it when it stops working. It would be great to see detailed explanations of how to update credit cards, etc on the help site.
