I have paid our Tax Payble to the ATO via the Goverment Easy Pay (credit card). When i go to enter the "Pay Tax" in Reckon Accounts it only allows for a bank cheque. If i don't enter the charge in RA credit card, my credit card reconciliation will be off.

If i make a general journal entry will that work around the issue of
"The account you chose could be a tax piability account. If you're trying to pay tax, you should use the Pay Tax window instead. Recording this cheque/credit card charge transaction will not be considered payment against any tax owed."

Please help.

I agree with Kevin.  If you pay with a cheque through the "Pay Tax" option, the payment will be recorded against the Tax Liability Account.  Then you can either use the "Transfer Funds" from the Credit Card to the Bank Account or perform a journal: Debit Bank Account Credit the Credit Card account.

I understand your point, Kevin.  However, an alternative view is that if a business owner has to use a forum to obtain answers to what are basic bookkeeping issues, perhaps they need to develop their knowledge of the essentials.  The alternative of seeking regular advice from an accountant or bookkeeper would no doubt be beyond the paying capacity of many small business owners.  Hence, they need to be better equipped for the successful operation of their businesses from within their own resources.

    Hi Leshae,

If you enter a credit card charge you can still allocate to your Tax payable, PAYG, etc accounts that you normally would on a cheque screen.

I personally enter a bill and then pay the bill, but there are a few different ways you can do it.

    Kind regards,
