back up for upgrade

Hi, 

The back up takes forever, so far I have tried a dozen times, and it does not work, it is endless ...

When I go back to the file, after hours of waiting, it's logged out, no idea if it has even backed up.

Is there a step missing ? What am I doing wrong here ? 

I have not even got to any upgrade yet and I have payroll to do today for the new year.

I cannot tell how fed up I am right now.

Why can't Reckon dump some years off it to a smaller file...

Between the notes to backup [which does not work] and then 'if you are not prompted to update' what is actually supposed to occur, as I have nothing ?

What have I missed here, if there was a backup, are you meant to go and look for the file and re-open it, yes did that, it still says back up... over and over and over again.

PLEASE HELP ME, I am so desperate now.
