From 1 January 2017, the Government will set the tax rate applying to working holiday makers at 19% on earnings up to $37,000.
Just wondering if Reckon will have a way to choose certain employees as being backpackers and therefore using the different tax rates.

I would also like to know the answer to that one.
We employ a lot of backpackers in the season, and some only stay for a few days/weeks, some for longer periods.
I am wondering if there will be a separate tax code to choose for backpackers, to make it a little easier.
The idea of having to manually change every pay, every week, means errors creep in due to us having to change more things.

    Hi folks,

I'm not certain that a specialised tax code will be added at this point, however you can complete the desired result by editing the tax information for the particular employee.

Hi Alison; I'm not 100% sure but I don't think that legislation has actually been passed as yet?

Thanks Robyn I believe you are correct that it still hasn't been legislated. However it has been approved by cabinet. http://sjm.ministers.treasury.gov.au/media-release/104-2016/

Also thanks for the guidance Rav.
