BACKUP and REBUILD DATA issues in HOSTED

We have a glitch in some accountancy numbers and we have been told that we must REBUILD DATA. To do so, first, you must do a backup.... that worked. Then I started to REBUILD DATA. The process is terribly long and can only be done in single user mode, which then must be after hours. I left the system doing its thing at about 2am.... when I checked later morning I had been logged out for inactivity.  The accountancy issue was not fixed and I have no way of knowing if it actually did the data rebuild. HELP, if there an easier way to sort this? RECKON seems to log you out for inactivity whether you are using it or not

Jeff, even if your browser logged you out of the Reckon site, your datafile should have continued rebuilding in the background? When you came back to the machine the next morning - what was on the screen?  was the rebuild finished? agree with Kevin you could do it offline - depending how big your datafile is and how often it has been rebuilt - it could take several hours to complete... part of the rebuild process is doing a backup and the default is to backup with Complete verification - it is this process which can take a long time.  If you have successfully already backed up the file it is possible to start the rebuild process and skip the backup step by holding down the Control key while you select File - Utilities - Rebuild...but make sure you have done the backup first!  hope this helps..

Thanks to you both for the answers given. Kevin, We no longer have QC/RECKON installed on our systems. I'd guess we would need that to take it off-line?  Linda, when I logged back into RECKON that next morning, it went in as though I was logging in for the first time that day...no windows were open etc. That would suggest the rebuild failed?

Thanks Kevin, must I also purchase Enterprise? RECKON HOSTED has the option to do the task but the task does not work, the software is faulty. I would not recommend HOSTED to anyone

Thanks for the gr8 advice Kevin, much appreciated. Re my criticism of the product, for what we pay as a business, there are many flaws. Logging many out due to inactivity is one flaw.... while you are using the system. We all have worked on many large invoices and had the system toss you out with nothing saved. It does have issues! *again, thanks*

I have the same problem every time i do a backup.  After back up, window comes up to verify data but reckon hosted just hangs and in the end you get logged off.  The back up process has always been slow, even when I used the desk top version of Enterprise.  I really thought that moving to hosted, this will speed up a bit but in fact it is worst.

I have done a back up today (11 Aug 2018), but data verification did not complete now I have transactions of 2015 appearing in my deposits screen.  I just can't seem to rebuild my data file.  This is now a big concern for me. I am to scared to restore the back up I did before the verification in case something went wrong.

It seems that I am not the only customer having this problem.  Is reckon even looking at a solution for this problem. It seems that nothing is really done to fix this.  Is the only solution really to try and do this on your desk top?  Not very good service.  Maybe need to look at different online accounting program!!!

Comment from Reckon would be greatly appreciated.
