balance sheet comparison

My boss would like to have a balance shet showing year to date against the previous financial year. Is that possible

Sure - when running the Balance Sheet report - make sure the date range is 01.07.yy to current date - then also click Previous Period - that will give you 30.06.yy as the comparison column.0

Linda, he wants to show todays date and the comparison to be ending 30.06.18

ok - so do you mean 30.06.18 or 30.06.19... if 2019 - then you would have your date range set to 01.07.19 to 16.12.19 - and tick Previous Period - and this will product 2 columns - one dated 16.12.19 and one dated 30.06.19...
If you really want 30.06.18 - then you would select the date range of 01.07.18 to 16.12.19 - and tick Previous Period - this will give you 16.12.19 and 30.06.18...
Note: - this must be done in the Modify Report screen (you cant do it on the main report screen)... and I always tick the box under Previous Period for $Change - which gives you the movement in the balances for those 2 dates.1 -
Thanks so much Linda. You are a CHAMPION. Yes I did mean 2018 and it now makes sense to me. I was trying in the modify Report screen but was not having any luck.
