Reckon Accounts Home & Business 2013

BUY transaction works but Commission/Fees are not categorised or reported.

In the BUY transaction, the account for transaction does not appear in the pull-down list and only appears after I select another transaction and then go back to BUY

All fees, gst, etc are recorded in the transaction but are not categorised or reported.

So far, I've tried:
- editing transactions
- deleting and re-entering transactions
- validating file
- copying file
- reinstalling quicken.

No success.

Please Help!!

Hi Robyn,

Welcome to Reckon Community!

I'm afraid that there is no provision to set the Category for the Fees, GST or other related-fields within the Buy - Shares Bought transaction.

It is only possible to certain transactional types i.e. Miscellaneous Expense, Write Cheques, and the likes.

Kind Regards,

Jamaiel

HI Jamaiel, last year my BUY transactions put the Fees amounts in the category Bank Fees.  This year, with no changes to the program or data file, the Fees amounts are recorded in the BUY transaction and do not show in any Category.

I don't want to change the Category where the Fees go, I just want to know the Category where they do go, so I can record it for my tax.

Please can you tell me the category (including sub-category etc) where fees (and GST etc) are put when you do a BUY transaction.

Thanks

Hi Robyn,

I have consulted with my colleagues regarding this but unable to find any section to place a Category.

If I may, can you tell us the report you've seen these Bank Fees recorded? Also see if you can zoom in (double-click) to see where it is recorded (if on the Brokerage Account or elsewhere) and to finally check the Split transaction window.

Thank you,

Kind Regards,

Jamaiel

Hi Jamaiel,
Please understand I do not want to assign a category.

I want to know what is the default category that the fees go into.

When I look at the BUY transaction, it looks like it should put the fees in the category 'Investment: Bank Fees'.

The BUY transactions I entered last year put the fees in this category.

The BUY transactions for this year don't.  The fees don't go into any category that I can find.

I am trying to find the category.

When I look at the split transaction (in the register it is a Boughtx transaction), the fees are all in the right boxes.  However, it shows the wrong account for the cash transfers in and out and the fees are not put in any category.

Is there a bug?

Please can you tell me what category Quicken puts the fees for BUY (boughtx) transactions.  Category/subcategory.  If it puts them in a hidden category (ie a _abc-def), then what is the name of the category?

Jamaiel,
I'm not sure if you understand my question.

The Category I am referring to are the categories in the Category List.  Refer to the Tools Menu, Category List,    Shift-Ctrl-C.    The categories that print out on the Income Tax Summary Report.
