Can I search for a field in an estimate

In Reckon Accounts Premier Edition 2017 (Desktop)...   I use estimates (or Quotes), and would like a field in there somewhere where I can enter the customer's Request-for-Quote number. (The customers reference number).  And then I would like to be able to run a report of my estimates that would show this number within the results. (So, find transaction type Estimate, run a report of it and then modify report to display desired fields.  The customers request for quote number would be one of the fields I would want to see displayed in the report.
I do see that there is a field called P.O. in the estimates template, but I thought that might pertain to the other side of the ledger (as in... I (emphasis on I) would create a PO when I am ordering something)...but couldn't see how that would be right for the  CUSTOMER'S  reference number...

    Hi Deb

In my Reckon Accounts Desktop 2018 if I go to the Customer Centre and click the Customer & Job tab, then on the right hand side under Reports for this Customer click Show Estimates.

On the left hand side click Modify Report and  and then under columns check all the optional column headings to see if there is one that might be suitable for your requirements. In this respect, Reckon Accounts is quite customisable for all sorts of reporting.

Hello Robert, thank you for that - I really appreciate you responding :-)   That has helped a lot thanks, except I don't seem to have "Columns" as such, more filters or accounts, but within those, really the only one I can see that would be appropriate, is P.O.#.   I guess from here my query would be, can the P.O. field be used as the customers Work Order number (or Request for Quote number), or is the P.O. field in an estimate form really designed for MY use to order products to fulfil the stock provision side of the estimate.  I don't mind using this P.O. # field for the customer's reference number, as it would be great and easily can run a report with this field, but I didn't want to use it that way if it's actually meant for "the other side of the ledger" so to speak.  Because that might scramble something?

    Hi Deb

I make the Quote/Estimate Number itself the "Request for Quote No".  You can even re-name the field label to this in the template.
This allows it to be shown in all reporting & - for customers who have their own specific number formats - also makes it easy to identify :)

    Hi Deb,

The method described by Shaz is likely easier.

Below is an alternative which makes use of Custom Fields if you want to keep the existing Quote/Estimate Number field and also have a "Request for Quote No.".

These custom fields can be added to estimate, invoice and other templates.

Ensure that you have confirmed that these custom fields are available in the reports you need to make use of and that you are able to search/filter for them successfully.

thank you Data Rec, this was exactly what to do and I have done it - others had given the answer too - very grateful to all.  One thing though, it doesn't not seem to be possible to sort my estimates report in alphabetical order by the field I have chosen.  It just wants to sort the list by the customer name, no matter what?  How can I get an estimates report that will sort itself by the field in the list that I click on, instead of defaulting to the customer name/job.?
    Kind regards,
    Deb

    Hi Deb,

You need to generate one of the standard reports such as the "Estimated by Job" report and modify it.

In the Display tab, ensure that you add the specific column that you want to appear such as that "Request-for-Quote" custom field.

Then you can modify the "Sort by" field value.

Then you can Memorise the report.
