Hi

I have transferred my Documents to a new partition and appear to have lost the link between 'attachments' and '.QDF' file  - hence I am unable to view attachments. I have nearly 1000 attachment files under Attach in the Quicken folder but they will not open. I have been backing up to .rkn files which I now will change to a regular backup in future. Regards Paul

    HI Paul,

    Thank you for your post.

Unfortunately, if a link is broken, you can't view those attachments anymore. Unless you have a previous QDF backups, you can't get them back. You'll have to add those attachments again.

    Apologies for any inconveniences.

    Thank you.

    Paul,

Where is the partition that contains your attachments?

What is the full path to the attachments?

What is the full path to the previous location/partition where you had the QDF file?

Where is this new partition where you placed the QDF file?

Is this new partition on the same computer?

Why did you move the QDF file to a new partition?

Can you place the QDF file back into its previous location and confirm whether you are then able to once again view the attachments?

    -IM

    Thanks Lfti

I did read elsewhere that provided I had the attachments file (which I do have) it is possible to reattach them. You are saying that is not possible. Please confirm.

I have been using Quicken for a long time and since 2004 have been attaching files and doing regular backups. Unfortunately when I need to use a backup I find out inadvertently that the default backup to .rkn files does not include the attachments. Surely the default should include everything. Otherwise why bother with a backup. As a user I should not be expected to have to work out which backup to use.

    Hi

I have resolved the problem by relocating the folders/files back from the new partition to the old location. Also the article I read about restoring the links was in the Knowledgebase re ID 4739

    Many thanks

    Thanks Inigo

The earlier response from employee Lfti advises that it is not possible to reattach the files. I will finalise that conversation first before pursuing other options.

    Regards

    Paul
