Hi Liz,
What is happening specifically when you attempt the upload?

Which Reckon software are you using to create the pay event file in?

Hi Rav, Im now 2 payruns behind.
Im using Reckon Accounts Premier 2019
I select the pay run to lodge, it save a STP .json
It signs into ReckonPortal
I click on Reckon GovConnect and Open business
I select the STP file then, new payrun, then click confirm,
it repeatedly takes me back to the same place without accepting the file already selected.
This process had been functioning fine, so I have no idea why it now does not?
Hope you can help

Hi Kaela, Read my comments below.  I found my problem.  Using your web browser, press CTRL plus O to open a file.  You should get a windows open dialog box.  Navigate to your STP file and open it.  The json file is a database format.  It will open in a web browser as its a format used in web applications.

Once you have opened the file you will be able to look easily, employee by employee to see if there are any errors.  I had a return character in one of my employee email addresses.  Alahna down below, had leading spaces on one of their addresses.  Just make sure everything looks OK.

Hi Rav, I have compared the last file info that uploaded with the run that did not upload and still have no resolution to this problem.  There was no changes made to either of the files.  Is there any other problem that I may be overlooking??

This is also happening to me as well. Reckon Accounts Desktop.  Other entities running fine.  THe confirm cancel button appears and hit confirm and it just goes back to the file dialog box and I selet the file again and just returned to the confirm cancel webapp dialog.  There was another post here:
https://community.reckon.com/reckon/topics/stp-file-wont-upload-in-reckon-portal
that reports the same symptom.

I have other entities that work fine.  It has only just started happening so please its not some file with "" in it.  It has always worked in the past.  I tried also doing an update file for kicks and it also does the same thing.

Regards,peter

Anyone had any luck, I am not getting able to solve this and have over the phone has not been successful either.

This is an issue needing to be looked at as it is affecting a few people.

Rav any insight, are you able to look into this.

Thanks, Alanna

I actually did have luck.  I didnt have "" in the file.  HOWEVER, I did have an error.  I had recently updated someone's email address and copy and pasted it.  It actually pasted an invisible <CR> or carriage return.  Analysing the STP file in a editor fit for purpose I found the problem.

Edit:  It just would be nice if the web application would be able to detect the errors and offer a clue.

Thanks Peter, I have made a lot of changes to people's addresses lately so this may be the problem.

How do I analyse the STP file?

Thanks soooooo much for responding, I was at a loss and freaking out as the end of financial year creeps up :)

Now,  thankfully that is an easy question.  I use a development tool as I develop software BUT firefox/chrome and most likely all browsers open JSON files which is the format of the STP.

If you hold the <CTRL> key down and press O it will bring up the file open windows dialog box.  Then navigate to the latest STP file and it will open it in an easily readable format - It will be very very clear.  Then just look through the data.  I spotted the carriage return very quickly and remembered making that change.  Fixed the problem and regenerated the STP and it uploaded fine.

Edit: Let me know how you get on.

Peter you are a champion, this has been doing my head in for weeks now and you have helped me solve it so easily.

Thank you very much for the help! It was a few extra spaces at the start of an address, one that I'd copied.

Really appreciate it. Have a nice day.

I  was having a lot of trouble uploading my payroll over to the ATO portal. Would get as far as lodge,  etc then upload, and there it would stay.  NOthing.
Tried again this morning and as usual nothing.  WAited about 10 mins then decided I would try to use the back arrow to reverse a couple of pages.  Then I entered the GovConnect again and Whammy - Success - it transferred over.    Hope this helps with some-one else who is having the same problem.

I had this problem a while back. Support checked over my STP file and there was something invalid in there. Call their support team and they'll verify the file for you
