Very disappointed with Reckon after being a 15+ years customer.   I needed to clean up the data file and both the 2016 and 2017 versions of Small Business has this function disabled.  I rang the helpline and had a really unhelpful conversation with the support person who said that Clean up is no longer recommended and the function is not available. Asked why it was still in the 2017 version if it was deemed redundant in the 2016. I could hear the shoulders shrug over the phone. Actually I don't think she really was that keen to give support or help.

I stated that it was important to clean up the data and she recommended  Accounts Plus. I had to ask if that was available as a free trial and she stated that it was.   and....Nup, that will not download at all- there is a broken link. Tried every browser and and still no download.

Bottom line is that I want to clean up my data. I have been paying for support for the last decade and now I need it. Help please!!

Hi there,
I've just checked in with our Reckon Accounts Desktop product team to get some clarity around this.
The Clean Up function is active in the Accounts Plus and up versions of the desktop range products. If you're using Reckon Accounts Easystart, Accounting etc you'll run into a message stating the function isn't active.

There are however more efficient means to maintain your file, reduce its size and get the best performance from it. I'll list some steps below, and as always make sure you perform a backup first.

1. Resort all the Lists (under lists menu click on each list & then click "View" and "Resort List").
2. Do a complete verification of your data file including backup (File > Utilities > Verify)
3. Do 3 x Rebuilds (File > Utilities > Rebuild)
4. Do a portable backup
5. Restore the portable backup

Hopefully that helps, if you are running into errors or issues beyond that you may need to check the QBWin.log file to see if there are underlying errors in the data file but let us know how you go.
