Have been hit by Cryptolocker. Reckon program will not restore backup file. Do I have to uninstall the program and re-install it to get a result? Bev B

Hi Bev, really sorry to hear you've been hit. From my understanding, if Crypotlocker locks files it's very hard to retrieve them. Please contact your IT person or get in touch with your Anti-Virus provider, they would be best to consult you in this matter. If the virus is still on your PC, I would advise to disconnect it from the Internet and not user it, until you have someone remove the virus (to prevent other files being infected and locked). Best of luck!
I have had success getting around cryptolocker.  I had to go to control panel and repair the programme first. After that I was able to restore the original company files.  These were not encrypted but the QBW.nd file was.  I have also been successful in restoring backup copies.  Bev Brickwood
