If upon opening a data file you encounter the warning message as shown below:

WARNING: Your list of user names and passwords appear to have been tampered with, or has become damaged. You may encounter problems logging in


IF YOU CAN LOGIN SUCCESSFULLY

If you are able to open the file, then follow the steps below to refresh your user accounts on the data file.

- Edit the Admin user record.
- Change the password to something else and click OK to save the change.
- Edit the Admin user record.
- Change the password back to what you want it to be and click OK to save the change
- Close the program.
- Re-open the program and confirm that the error is no longer displayed.

Repeat this process for any user login that encounters the warning

IF YOU CANNOT LOGIN 
If you are unable to open the data file, then you will need to restore a backup or send your data file to undergo analysis.

Restoring the last known good or most current good backup is your first recourse against data problems.

It is the responsibility of the user who is designated as the Admin to perform scheduled backups regularly and perform file integrity checking as part of that backup process.
This applies to both desktop and hosted platforms.
