Locate the existing data file on the Hosted platform that still has an Admin password, and rename it.

Once you are logged in to the Hosted platform

Click on “Open or restore an existing company file

With the “Open a company file (.QBW)” options selected click the Next button

Do not mouse-click onto the file name as this would initiate the opening of that file

When prompted with the Open a Company dialog window, you will need locate the data file in either the root of the Q: drive or within a shared folder

  1. Click on any ‘white blank space’ to target the active window
  2. Now use the arrow keys on the keyboard to move up/down until the named data file that needs to be renamed is selected
  3. Press the F2 key on the keyboard to allow the name to be changed
  4. Add the prefix “Do not use – “ to the file name then press the Enter key to save that change
  5. Then press the Cancel button to return to the main screen

You will now be able to restore a new portable file or backup set, where the resulting filename is the same as the original file it will be replacing.
