editing customer details gives error "tax item has an invalid type" and it wont save

I have recently changed to Accounts Hosted and had this problem with previous desktop versions. If you try to edit a customer record and say change the name or address or try to change the email address and it won't let you save the record and gives the error message "Tax Item has invalid Type"

there is a tax code or tax type linked to this card, check the tax code linked to the card and check the tax type linked to the code. Customers should only ever have GST or Free.

Those are the 2 options available and it is set to GST.

Hi Bruce,

When you edit the Customer name, go to the Additional Info tab, what tax code (if any) is set for that customer name?

In the Tax Information section, are you able to remove the tax code that is currently set?

Can you go to the Tax Code List and edit the tax code?
Click on Lists then Tax Codes
Edit the tax code that is set for that customer name.

In the Taxable Information section, what Purchase Tax Item and Sales Tax Items are set?

Can you go to the Tax ItemList and edit the tax item?
Click on Lists then Tax Item List
For each of the tax items that are set for that tax code, what is in the Type column?

Have you considered, creating a new Customer Name and merging the old name, into the new name?

Thank You. Code on some is GST and on other there is no code.

Creating New Customer and merging works. The merged account is also editable after merging.
