Hotmail account not recognised when emailing

I am trying to email payslips. I use a hotmail account but it keeps saying that no defult email provider has been setup in the windows registery?

Hi Lacie, you need to have an installed email client software as the Accounts program is designed to make use of a default email client installed on Windows.
Hotmail is a web-based email client which is not 'integrated' into Windows and that is why it doesn't get added to the Windows registry.
Consider using Microsoft Outlook (not Outlook Express or Windows Live Mail).

You can use Windows Live and have it connect to the Hotmail account.0

I gave up on having Reckon send emails. If you do not have too many employees I find it easier to install a PDF Printer (I use a free one Cute PDF http://www.cutepdf.com/products/cutepdf/writer.asp) and then email them Manually.0

Hi Annette, here is a link with the POP email settings for Hotmail. You can use these in Windows Live via Hotmail. http://email.about.com/od/accessinghotmail/f/Windows_Live_Hotmail_POP3_Settings.htm0
