I have all employees set up to accrue their leave entitlements per pay, e.g. personal leave is 1.47 for 38 hour week and 1.54 for 40 hour week, annual leave 2.93 for 38 hour week and 3.08 for a 40 hour week. I need to change one staff member to accrue per hour as they are having 1 day leave without pay each week which they will not accrue entitlements on. They are on a 40 hour week (if they work 5 days) and i need to set up personal as 0.03846 but it keeps changing it to 0.03861 and then annual leave needs to be 0.07692 and it keeps changing it to 0.07694. Can anyone tell me why this is happening as with these changes it will over accrue the annual leave entitlements? Thank you.

It's not an error, it's just to do with the way Reckons rounds numbers. It will change to those numbers, don't worry about it it's miniscule

However what I would do is also set up a spreadsheet to follow Annual Leave and Sick Leave on an hourly basis as a control. If you muck up your payroll and your leave accruals, it can be nigh impossible to try and find where it went wrong and to get back the correct figure.

I have a spreadsheet set up for 10 or 25 employees and it follows Annual, Sick and TIL, if you want just email me on charley@vanrotterdam.com.au

I accrue all employees by the hour, much more accurate.

    Hi Charles,

Thank you for your reply, I have spoken to my manager and she has advised that she has one of these templates. I'm glad I'm not the only one who had this problem, I thought I might have been going mad.

    Thank you again.

Hi Charles, I am just tagging along on this thread and hope you can answer an easy question.
Setting up accruals to accrue per hour, based on a 38 hr week is the correct hourly accrual 0.0386 for sick leave and 0.0771 for annual leave.  How critical is the rounding?

0.03833 for sick leave, if you try putting in 0.0386 it'll slot back to 0.03833 anyway. Same with 0.0771 will slot back to 0.07694. I also find that if you muck up with your pays and it throws out your leave accrual it becomes a nightmare to try and reconstruct it, that why I have the spreadsheet as a control.

If you want the spreadsheet email me on charley@vanrotterdam.com.au

    Cheers
