Error code -6000,-301 showing when trying to open company file

When trying to open my company file I either get the error code -6000,-301 or a message saying the connection to the company file has been lost and I have to abort the program.  I have restarted computer, tried updating to latest version Reckon 2014 (where it tells me it can't update because another user is currently using the file - which no one is), changed the name of the extensions so new extensions are created.  I'm at a loss.  Restoring an old backup and the restored backup is still doing the same thing.

    Hey Renea,

    Welcome to the Community.

    This error code suggests that the Company file which is damaged.

    If you have a recent back up of the company file, it would be easiest to open that up and work from there.
