I have heard it is possible to have 2 different units of measure fir one item e.g. we sell various products some are in cartons of 6 units and others are units of 12.
Can we have the cartons and units show up on sales orders, packing slips and invoices?

Yep - we do this all the time. We have single units, Retail display boxes of 6's and cartons of 4 display boxes or 24 single units
You can set one as the default and then when in an invoice or sales order use the drop down to select the UOM or even convert from one UOM to the other. We do this often. We have the picking slip (sales order) with the pick unit being a carton of 24 but we have to invoice for one customer as units so when we invoice we convert from one UOM to the other.
