Hi Helen,
In POS; there is no maximum number of transactions you can have on hold; no maximum number of items in a held transaction. Therefore, no limit to the number of held items.
Hope this clarifies things.
Thanks,
Mirko

Thanks Mirko, that's great. Also are there any hand held devices that work with POS via 3rd party app or something. I have a client who has a restaurant and is looking at POS. It would be nice for them to take the order at the table and have it enter directly into POS. They are not looking at POS hosted as the internet connection wouldn't be good enough.1

Not too sure on all the 3rd party apps and development partners out there. Might be an idea to look at find a partner page; http://home.reckon.com.au/support/Home/ReckonSupport/FindAReckonAccreditedPartner.aspx and see if there is anything there? Thanks,Mirko

Helen, we have a scanner that will do virtually everything, purchase orders, invoices etc. The software and hardware came from Purpose Built Pty Ltd at St Leonards NSW. They are very good, gave us very personal service whenever we have had problems. We are in country NSW and have had excellent service.0

Hi Helen,
Purpose Built make some great software however it doesn't work with Point of Sale(POS) directly but rather interacts with Reckon Accounts directly.
if you want to use POS a tablet or similar device to take orders i would recommend any full windows based tablet such as the Microsoft Surface Pro(please note the standard surface wont work, it must be the Pro edition).
With your tablet connected to your WiFi network you will be able to share the Database between both units to can place a transaction on hold on the tablet and retrieve it at the counter.
There are work around to get POS to work on an iPad or Android Tablet but are more complicated and may require the help of an IT professional.
As an overview it would require installing a Virtual Machine(VM)(VMware or Microsoft Virtual machine) and installing POS terminal on that image, then enable that image to RDP(remote desktop) access. once done you can and RDP app on your mobile device and set it to point to that VM.
The positive thing about setting it up as above is that you will be able to print receipts to a receipt printer that's connected to the desktop holding the VM image and also the use of a stylus or touch screen from your mobile device.
