Just changed to Reckon Hosted...not sure I am liking it . The way it prints from Reckon is annoying . Not happy with the way it emails through reckon not my email it's very hard to track what was sent. Now gateway error messages  and couldn't log back in till I went back in and disconnected session in Control. Lodging BAS and STP is not as easy as I thought quite a few steps envolved.  Backing up sometimes hangs and I would like to know if there is a way to back up to a USB as well and B drive .I pretty much have not been able to get on to support the last few times I have called.I really hope I have not made the wrong decission

Hi Narelle, Get out before it is too late.
I have used Quickbooks / Reckon Accounts for 15 years and now I can't backup my files, I can't upgrade to the 2019 version, my passwords don't work and I can't get any support.
The helpline last week had a recording "We are at capacity and are not accepting any calls"
On August the 1st they will remove the 2018 version and we will have lost all data and history.
We are desperately trying to convert to MYOB to avoid an absolute disaster.
Let me assure you.  You have made the wrong decision.

    Hi Narelle,
There are a few things different when it comes to how Hosted works in comparison to the desktop based Reckon Accounts. Email and printing are two of the big areas of difference along with a few other minor functions.
Overall though, I'm fairly certain that once you give it some time and get more familiar with it, you'll see the benefits of essentially having the highest level of Reckon Accounts but in the cloud.

If you'd like a copy of your backup to save to a USB drive, you can download it from Hosted to your PC then save it your USB drive.

    Hi Narelle

I have been using Reckon hosted for about a month now and have found ways around all issues, so far so good, except for the logged in when I'm not getting access was tricky but that has occurred twice so far.

Emails, tick the box, GO TO file and send forms, bcc yourself in if want to see all the emails.
Printing, it just goes to a different screen then you print a hard copy or a pdf.

Downloads, you only need to place the cursor on the item to download and its done via the toolbox in the top LHS of the screen, hit the arrow, up or down and that's what you get an upload or a download.

I like it better than being on the pc, yes some hiccups but once you are using more it should be ok

    cheers Deb

Sorry to hear you feel that way Greg.
Perhaps if you create a separate thread outlining in more specific detail what issues you're contending with at the moment, we can look at what's required in resolving them.

I am totally with you Narelle, I have recently changed over to Accounts Hosted from Desktop QuickBooks, and having the same issues. Then when you phone tech support, if you can get through there is a wait time of over 30-40 minutes. Searching for help on here is like searching for a needle in a haystack. I was told their would be help videos etc., but only ones I can see they seem to require payment. Not a happy experience and lots of wasted time.

I have always loved Reckon, desktop and Hosted and prior to Reckon, Quickbooks. Every new version brings changes that are sometimes a bit difficult to accept, but overall I have never had any major problems. Never lost my data, have always advised backing up often and in the case of Hosted downloading that backup to the PC and also an external drive. I BCC myself with emails and that way I know they have been sent. I love Reckon hosted, Reckon One is a bit of a struggle because it’s new to me and does not have the sophistication of Reckon Hosted but for $5 a month it does the job for many people regarding STP.

Sorry Narelle and Greg, that you have had poor experiences with Reckon so far... unfortunately, this time of the year is always busy for all accounting software providers - so starting with a new program in July can be quite frustrating unless you hookup with an Accredited Partner to help you through all these teething issues... there are over 200 of these partners spread across the country (visit https://partnersearch.reckon.com/ to find one near you) ...... we are specialists in the products and helping you make the most of your system.

Of course on top of this normally busy time of year - we have all small business now trying to undertake STP lodgements with the ATO which is new to everyone - we are all doing our best to support both our existing clients and new requests via this forum.

Whilst you will pay for support from an Accredited Partner, you should get good value for money as I would expect that besides having your immediate queries sorted, you will probably get additional productivity or benefits from those of us who use the product every day and know lots of little quirks and tweaks that can make a real difference.

Hang in there until the crazyness of July is over and I am sure you wont regret your decision.

thanks Linda I do have an accredited partner have had for years ( he helped me with set up years ago) and they helped me set up STP which was great but I just hate having to ring them for little things lol yes that does come at a cost for their time when I beleive I am paying for support in my subscription to Reckon Hosted and when it's hard to get that support it does make you a bit annoyed. I have used tech support over the years and they are USUALLY helpful but not always as sometimes there is a language/accent problem they can't understand me and I can't understand them but that is the way of the world these days. I am hoping the benifits of being able to use on other devices makes up for the little problems in hosted...cross fingers., I am a survivor so I will hang in, I think, not sure of my options anyway I have used Quickbooks /Reckon for so long changing now would be far to much stress.

Then you only need to email it to yourself or print as a pdf, then email it out and hit the options of delivery/read receipt
