How do I get New Categories (added via New button) to show in the LH pane when I click the Add Categories button

I have added new categories to the Category List via the New button. If I then click the Add Categories button, none of these new categories show up in the category list in the left hand pane, so I can't add the new categories to "My Categories". Why?

do you mean creating a new item like in attached video

Or if you are talking about Home & Business or Personal software categories, they are income and expense categories.  The accounts showing on the left are bank / asset / liability accounts and you would need to add them via the account list.

Maybe if you could please confirm the progam you are using that would be helpful please.
