How do I process end-of-year finalisation on Reckon STP App?

I have read the information about posting EOY  Finalisations from desktop software, but how do you do this from the Reckon STP App?

When submitting the last pay run, I ticked the box to declare that. A few days later, I discovered problems with earlier pay runs that were ultimately resolved.

My question is...is that final declaration still valid? It was indeed my last pay run, regardless of the corrections made to earlier pay runs.

How can I verify that this declaration has been made? My employee has checked the income statement via ATO and it is not listed as TAX READY.

Did you ring ATO?

The information I have from the ATO is that this is something that is done through the software that is used to report income payments - ie, Reckon STP App.

"The employer makes a finalisation declaration by providing a finalisation indicator for an employee via the employer's STP reporting software."

So I would like to know how do I provide that finale indicator? I have checked the box "This is a final payment" but I have no way to know if that has registered. I assume not, because the employee's ATO income statement is not "Tax Ready".

The adjustment you made to correct earlier errors removed the finalisation indicator. Another dummy final pay run should reinstate “tax ready” status.

I tried that but you can't do a pay run of $0, so not an option.

A -$1 pay run followed by a $1 pay run (final payment). What ever it takes.

The processed figures are in employee myGov.

No they aren't. I have mulitple listings of the transaction with no amount next to it. Only one transaction has a payment total. So the ATO figure are not providing processed figures. And the question still remains...How do I finalise the EOY reporting? My employee cannot use the ATO income statement because it is not TAX READY.
This is a question for Reckon STP App developers, please??

Anyone reading this post with similar problems - DONT DO A DUMMY RUN OF -$1 pay run followed by a $1 !!
Good news is - it finalised the income statement as Tax Ready.
Bad news is - the total income amount is ZERO.

I'm done with this App!

Agree! I had the same problem. I paid my staff 50k but his tax return in My gov showed 90k instead. I call ATO and they said you had to ammend it through the STP app. How could I do that? What a hell!!

Hi Erin,
Have you tried the method -ve $1 adjustment, followed by a $1 final pay run. I am pretty sure it would finalise because that was how I did it.

Hi Erin,
The free STP app contains the final pay event declaration which needs to be ticked if its the final pay of the financial year as you've already mentioned in your above post. This is all that is required in the micro-business app to 'finalise' or mark the last pay event, it does not have a finalisation process that full fledged accounting software has.

I'm not really following the adjustment posts above or why its being done but if there's something you need to clarify or further questions, let me know.

Hi Rav,  I absolutely ticked the box that said this was the final pay and it has not gone through to the ATO and there employees do not have their Income Statements available to them.  I have also done another post today and also emailed your customer service email.  The Reckon STP App gave absolutely no indication that this Final Payment for the Year tick actually went through and now when you access that payrun it shows nothing about it being the final payment for the Year.  Looking forward to the solution.  When I also check the ATO business portal, I can only see the individual pay events and can not see any referrence to the ytd openign balance payments to employees that I entered when I first used the STP App on 3rd June 2019.  This is very disappointing.  If the Free App does not work properly then it should not have been released.  Does not only inconvenience the Employers but also our employees when we are trying to do the right thing from the new reporting system.  Sets a really poor impression for Reckon as a company.

This is not well understood Rav. I was contacted by a distressed client who was given the wrong information by tech support. Yesterday when I rang I was told the app wasn't supported. This is disappointing

I have a similar issue and I can tell you I am becoming very frustrated with this App. Checked the box finalising EOFY on June 27th that included all employees paid for that pay run! ATO is saying that pay run is successful at their end but is still showing 'pending't my end. It appears that any employees who have left or weren't on that pay run have not been issued summaries on their MYGOV site and therefore cannot submit a tax return. Small business doesn't have time for this unprofessional software and to think we have to go to a 'blog' site to get answers is a disgrace!!

What if we missed the check box saying the this is last pay run for the financial year?Could we create a duplicate pay run and submit it as last pay run for that financial year?

Hi Rav,
Yes, would love to clarify this because it is a mess.

I did a final pay run on 20 June and ticked the box in the App declaring that it was a final pay run.

After the 20 June STP went through, it was discovered that a previous pay run from 15 May had been duplicated in the employee reporting so I did an adjustment to fix the duplication. That was successful.

I didn't think the adjustment would negate the final declaration 20 June as it related to the payment on 15 May. However, the employees ATO income statement never turned to "TAX READY."

Someone on this post suggested doing a -$1 pay run followed by a $1 in an attempt to re-declare the final pay run. I did that  and it worked for the declaration (the ATO income statement is now TAX READY) however it wiped out all the reporting so the employee's income statement is ZERO.

I don't want to further complicate my reporting, so at this point, I will report income earnings and withholdings the old fashioned way via paper.

I'm not sure what I will do for 2019-20.

I have the same problem . I have a payment sitting on pending even though the ato say it is fine at their end . I cannot get tax ready for my employee. I also did a duplicate and ticked the box and still not tax ready . I may have to do the old fashioned way as well .

Hi Melissa. I had similar issues with the Reckon mobile app. I call ATO today and they said because you use STP, they didn’t accept any paper lodgement any more! If you successfully do that, please let me know. Thanks in advance!

Hi Mellisa. Good to know that ATO will accept paper lodgement even you start STP. I will consider changing STP providers too.

I use the reckon free phone app as I only have 2 employees. I started using it at the beginning of June 2019 and clicked that the final payment i made in June was the final payment. My employees have checked on my gov and it appears that they have a 2018-2019 gross income etc, but the 2020 figures look to have added the 2019 figures or something, because the 2020 figures are totally incorrect.

Please advise whether this has occurred because the 2019 figures haven’t been finalised and are duplicating into 2020 figures.

I love the app, but only if it works correctly!
Could someone from reckon please advise me what I should do. The ato has advised that it’s a reckon issue that needs to be addressed

Hi FLR,
The ATO Business Portal shows all pay events and update events processed for a financial year. The only thing it does not show is the initial YTD figures of payees. It might give you clues to why the 2020 figures are incorrect.

I’m thinking that’s it’s to do with the fact that it hasn’t finalised the 2018-2019 year at last pay in June and so all of last years pays are being included in 2020 as well. I still can’t work out how to make my employees Tax Ready

The Ato aren’t much help and my employees want to file their tax returns. Reckon should be giving the correct answers as to how to rectify this, after all it is an ato recommended app and it should be fully operational without these sort of glitches, or assist in correcting them.

FLR,
It is getting a bit late to finalise for 2018-19. How about a $0 final pay run? I have not used it myself but I have seen a post on this blog about this method.

FLR,
If you are a small employer ( < 20 employees ) STP reporting can be delayed till 30/09/2019. If you do not finalise in STP for 2018-19 you can always issue paper payment summaries or EMPDUPE.
