Yes you sure can. Just click on 'Add Product' in the top right corner and select the 'Reckon One' option.
This will create a second book and take you through setup of it.

    Hello RC,

Newbie here... Or possible newbie, haven't made up my mind as to which as I'll go as yet...

What I'd like to know is. Can I run more than one company file on one (1) Essentials plan?

The reply by 'Rav' on march 30 says "yes you can" but then he goes onto say to 'brandon'... Just add another product. The use of the term 'product' and no subsequent reply by Brandon is why I'm asking the same question again.

To be clear, I look after three (3) sets of books for three (3) different companies none of which need to be run simultaneously and all get billed separately for my time; make that four (4) sets of books!

    cheers,

Hi @berniedehmel, welcome to the Community.

The Essentials plan gives you one Reckon One book which will let you run one company. From what you've described it sounds like you'll need 4 books.

My earlier response to Brandon was more related to how to add a new Reckon One book to your existing account. You can have as many books within the account however each one has its own subscription associated with it.

Thanks for the response Rav 👍️

I've since determined that going with the Reckon Accounts is probably the best option for me. It's a bit more of an expense than I had planned for but less than 4 Reckon One books... My understanding is that if I go for the PLUS version, then I can simply transfer my company files from my old QB Plus V16 setup and I'm ready to go without missing a beat. Could you please confirm if my understanding is correct in that regard? cheers 😊

<snip> ... simply transfer my company files from my old QB Plus V16 setup..

Just to clarify @berniedehmel, by QB Plus V16 do you mean Reckon Accounts Plus 2016?

If so, then yes its a direct upgrade so no issues there. I'll link the installation & upgrade guide below which outlines the upgrade paths from various versions. In most cases, its just a direct upgrade except when using an extremely older software version -

Sorry Rav... I should have been more precise in what I was trying to say.

The current software I'm using is - QuickBooks Plus: Small Business Plus Payroll 2007/08 Release R1 -

I want to upgrade to your Desktop version - Reckon Accounts Plus - as my licence for my existing software has been 'expired' (almost sounds a bit like a euphemistic term used by the Mob 😄)

After 20 years... it's like losing an old friend. I started using QuickBooks late 1999 and steadily upgraded over the years to what eventual became version 16.0A R1 in 2007

It's worked a treat in all that time with the exception of sending invoices directly to my email program which crapped out at some stage... Easily worked around though and has served me well 👍

    @Administrator

hadn't heard back from you in regards to my previous post/reply.

If I haven't provided enough details, just let me know what you need and I'll get back to you ASAP as I would like a definitive answer before signing up for the Desktop Accounting Software.

    cheers 😀

Apologies for missing your follow up @berniedehmel, I've just checked in with our support team and the upgrade guide above. It looks like you're in luck, the 2007/08 version you currently have is the oldest version that can upgrade directly to the current edition ie. Reckon Accounts Plus 2020 so no worries there.

I would however recommend that you do review the upgrade guide I linked above just so you're across the process and changes etc.

This thread is a bit old but my question fits into it. Is the extra book supposed to be free?

When I'm trying to add a book, it asks me to choose a plan.

    Hi @Syscogent

Each Reckon One book has its own monthly subscription. So if you're attempting to add an additional book it will have its own plan and monthly subscription cost.
