    Hi Donna,

No, it will not 'automatically update' the file that is on the hosted platform.

    They are two separate systems.

Any work, changes, additions, deletions made in the desktop file WILL NOT be reflected in the hosted file until you overwrite/replace it.

You should NOT work on these two files at the same time.

The use of the desktop installation in conjunction with the hosted platform is not something suitable for everyone, depending on their usage requirements.

Some users that need to make use of software integration between third-party software and the Reckon Accounts software currently can only do so with desktop based installations (until such time as a hosted SDK/API is made available).

This highlights the importance of performing your own backup on the hosted platform and then diligently downloading it onto your desktop computer at regular intervals (say at the end of the day) in order to take advantage of the local Reckon Accounts single-user Enterprise installation.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Example:

If you have a data file on the hosted Q: drive called "Donna.QBW" then in order for you to work on the desktop Enterprise, you would need to create a backup on the hosted platform and then download that to you local computer.

That downloaded backup, can be restored and opened in the local desktop Enterprise program.

Now there would exist a file "Donna.QBW" on the hosted platform AND "Donna.QBW" on your the desktop computer.

If you decide to bring a copy of the file from the hosted platform to the desktop platform and then work on it on the desktop platform:

    - you will need to stop any work on the hosted platform.
    - you can perform work on the desktop platform
    - once you have completed your tasks, you need to create a clearly labelled backup file
    - you need to then upload that backup file to the hosted platform (Upload folder)
    - you need to then restore the backup to replace the "Donna.QBW" that is on the hosted Q: drive (restoring the file onto the Q: drive will overwrite/replace the original that is on the hosted platform. This is why you cannot work on both files simultaneously.
