How do I Validate RKN files in Reckon Personal Plus 2013?

I've just reloaded my Windows operating system (now 8.1) and my Reckon Personal Plus 2013 software.  Now I want to recover the files that I saved to a memory stick.  When I try to Validte them, it will only let me search for QDF files but they're saved as RKN files.
How do I restore them so I can resume my personal accounting?

    I've just figured it out, which is great but now I've got another problem.  Two of the files I've recovered will not respond when I click the "Investing" tab.
    Any fixes?
