Sorry to hear that, few questions:
- Do you have anti Virus software installed?
- Have you tried running the program in Admin mode? you can do that by right clicking on the icon and select the option "Run as Admin"
If the above suggestion fails please try:
Uninstall this Home Inventory Manager installation through the Control Panel:
Start > Control Panel > Quicken Home Inventory Manager > click and select uninstall.
On the installation disk, go to HAB > Disk1 > Quicken Home Inventory Manager > install > click on Qhinstall.exe

I have found the problem.
If I do a backup to an external drive or storage device but leave the device connected to my PC (via USB etc.) the Home Inventory won't start and returns the error "QHIM.exe stopped running". Once I disconnected my back drive HIM started working.
In searching for a solution, I found that if I moved my data file to another directory I was able to start HIM and create a new file but once I browsed and tried open the existing data file the HI Manager programme would crash.
I then remembered I had a similar issue with Personal Plus 3 years ago and discovered the problem of having another copy of the file sitting on a backup drive by accident. So I thought I would see if the same problem existed with HIM.
I had tried un-installing and installing many times either from the disk or copying the files to my PC, I tried fiddling around with permissions and administrator rights although I am the only user and are always logged on as administrator.
It must be something to do with having/remembering 2 paths to a data file with the same name.
