My Quicken Home & Business 2012 Release R1 was purchased by download on 11 Nov 2011 ($239) as upgrade of earlier version (Personal Plus 2004) and installed on old computer running Windows Vista. I received excellent tech help in converting old data files. I would like to transfer program and data to my new computer running Windows 10 and need guidance as to what steps and actions I need to take.

Welcome to the Reckon Community John.

Here is the sequence I suggest you follow:
  1. clean up your datafile on your current machine - File > File Operations > Validate, then super Validate;
  2. make a back-up - to the compressed *.rkn format - to your local PC and then copy the backup to a USB stick, or the like;
  3. Make sure you have your IKC (Help > Licence Information) and your Reckon customer ID and PIN;
  4. uninstall Home&Business off your old PC;
  5. copy the downloaded install file - most likely in your Downloads folder and called ReckonAccountsPersonal2018.exe - (You can also download it from the members area straight to your new PC);
  6. On your new computer create a ReckonHAB directory in your Documents folder with 2 subdirectories: Backup and Current;
  7. Copy your installation file to Documents\ReckonHAB;
  8. Copy your backup to Documents\ReckonHAB\Backup;
  9. Install Home&Business by double clicking the install file in Documents\ReckonHAB, open the Sample file and Activate.  Make sure the program closes and opens to the sample file properly;
  10. Restore your backup and save the working file to the Documents\ReckonHAB\current folder.
You will now be ready to continue on your new PC from where you left off on the old PC.
