Importing & Exporting

Hi Rob
Alternately if you want it done properly and without issue or frustration you could try using a Reckon Accredited Consultant. https://partnersearch.reckon.com/
This can also align you with an Accredited Partner in your area.
Kind Regards
Kim Chapman

Tip, save the file as an excel file to keep the formatting, then save it as a text file and import iif file, make sure you change file type to text.
Also, you don't necessarily need the first 10 lines or so just the header row an below, makes it easier to sort say all hidden (ie inactive) then delete the group.

Yes Andrew it does.
It would depend how much time you have on your hands.
If you want free it comes with risks.
If you want a professional Services it comes at a Cost, but you know that the service and file you get will be backed by an Accredited Partner, who is dedicated to their work.
Unfortunately the Partner Search Site has been broken for the last few months and the Partner have not been easy to find.
This is just one type of the service we provide.
Oh Andrew, do you work for free in your day job?

Personally I see too many errors from Self Setups/Import Export. I am a Professional and as such I select what I am willing to offer on the Community, and this is one thing I choose not to give advice on. I feel it is far too risky if you don't know what you are doing.
Andrew, the Find Feature is working it is still fixed, which is why I gave the link. Like you said Andrew it is a Community Forum and we are free to post our services here if we wish. I just chose to post an Overall Reckon Website Service: Find an Accredited Partner - which advertises all Accredited Partners, not just my services.

I think you might be a little Mislead in the role a Consultant does. We work with both the Accountant and the Client, together the Accountant and the Consultant support their mutual Client. The majority of my Clients' Accountants would not attempt such a thing, they are an Accountant ie. Taxation. On the other hand a Consultant is generally a Software Consultant that specialises in Software Setup Support and Maintenance (along with other things). That said there are Accountants that are Accredited and do offer these services also, at a cost.0

If you don't have really good knowledge of exporting these items into and out of excel, then I would suggest you simply import the items into the new file and from your items list you can very quickly adjust or delete the items. The new file will allow you to delete items because they have not been used in the new file and so not linking to invoices or bills.

Hi Andrew, almost right. I would skip the part about importing into a blank company file. Just import directly into the new company file and start deleting.
The deleting doesn't have to happen immediately. If the items are no longer being used they can be deleted later without any problems.

Hi Jacqui,
Thanks for the great tip. I had an error - "The taxable setting in the tax code has been changed. This cannot be imported." I am thinking it may be best to get an accredited partner to do this for us. I'm not sure if you can do this for us remotely. How do I contact you for a quote?

Hi Jamie Yes, I do work remotely. Www.cosbiz.com.au. contact us. Kind regards Kim Chapman0
